Jargon Federation Representatives:

Jargon Federation politicians who fill ambassadorial positions between the Federation and foreign entities are given the title of Representative. Each Representative is considered by the Grand Council to be an individual who holds the Jargon Federation’s best interests at heart and has proven trustworthy enough to represent and protect these interests outside of Federation space.

Representatives are encouraged to study the culture and politics of any and all groups they take an interest in. This allows for much professional overlap of expertise between Representatives. Although each Representative may play a minor part in the ambassadorial politics of any group outside of the Federation, they are also expected to claim an Entity of Interest which stands as their primary field of expertise and denotes the political or economic body they interact with most often.

Representatives who share an Entity of Interest are expected to work together, cooperate in order to effectively protect the interests of the Federation, and remain cordial with one another while discussing opposing viewpoints. Representatives who show considerable aptitude when dealing with their Entity of Interest and stay with the same Entity consistently are typically held in high esteem within these ambassadorial subgroups. As Representatives become more versed in politics and take more active roles with their Entity of Interest, a certain form of fame and exposure arises similar to some Idols. Skrell will often refer to individual Idolized Representatives when discussing that Representative's political ideals in debate or discussion. Although there are benefits to remaining with one Entity of Interest, it is not uncommon for a Representative to change their Entity of Interest multiple times or take up minor roles in ambassadorial work outside of this claimed interest.

Common Entities of Interest and Political History

Sol Alliance:

The majority of Federation Representatives choose to work within the Sol Alliance at one point or another due to their own interest in Humanity, the political relevance of Skrell and Human cooperation, and the more recent history of corporate growth in Human space. The sheer number of Representatives working within Human space makes Sol a familiar, and quite popular, first choice for many freshly vetted Representatives to gain experience in the processes of interstellar politics.

As it stands, there is a constantly fluctuating number (between twenty and thirty) of Jargon Representatives who claim the Sol Alliance as their chosen entity. This number does not include Representatives who claim other interests within the borders of the Alliance as their primary entity of interest. Other such entities of interest include smaller, more independent colonies as well as companies and Mega-Corporations operating within Sol.

Diplomatically, the two powers have numerous treaties of cooperation. Presently, both powers enjoy a very beneficial trade agreement, boosting the Alliances economic capability. Limited technological exchanges are also conducted, though this remains highly restrictive and lengthy process as a result of the artificial intelligence leak from 2437. Another important agreement is a security one, where both powers to a degree, cooperate and share intelligence on border activities to counter pirates, smugglers and other forms of threats. Other agreements and treaties exist, but are not as major as the previous ones.

Recent civil disruption in the Sol Alliance has caused some of the Representatives to return to Federation space until issues settle, however others have seen this as an advantage to gain the advantage in studying and experiencing interstellar politics. Additionally, Federation representatives have lodged formal protests towards the decision to ban Tajara from Solarian space, citing it as barbaric and cruel to a species that is attempting to build a better future for themselves, away from war.

Republic of Biesel:

The Republic of Biesel is a relatively new Entity of Interest. Immediately after the Tau Ceti system was granted independence from Sol in 2452, a handful of Representatives chose the fledgeling nation as their focus. The majority of Representatives operating within the Republic have extensive experience with other Human Entities, with the most common being the Sol Alliance and mega-corporation NanoTrasen.

Diplomatically, the Republic acts as the number one tourist destination for Federation citizens outside their own borders, resulting in mutual tourism treaties, which on paper makes the process easier, but in practice, still upholds the ban on synthetics and other dissidents from entering Federation territory. Another major agreement is a security-based one, where specialists and instructors are sent to better train and equip government agencies in handling synthetic threats. Other agreements and treaties exist, but are not as major as the previous ones.

In late 2458, a Representative responded to the Republic of Biesel manufacturing a line of Combat-Module Synthetics by requesting an embargo on the small Republic. With a short debate, 11/12 of the Representatives agreed to send the request, and after a slightly longer debate on Jargon between the Grand Council, they enforced the embargo - racking up prices of many common goods in the Republic. The Federation requested Sol embargo aswell, and this spurred on the Frost Invasion

Presently in the year 2461, the Federation has made efforts in improving relations once more, upping imports in hopes of stabilizing the Republic's economy. Representative focus has shifted towards a more dialogue-based method when dealing with issues they deem concerning.

Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals:

Shortly after first contact, many human companies and corporations began requesting scientific cooperation with Skrellian researchers. To more effectively process and consider these offers, the Grand Council initiated the Federation Representative system. This early version of the current, more expansive system involved the appointing of five delegates to meet with board members of each corporation.

Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals was the first private company to successfully lobby for Skrell support. This is largely attributed to the driven attitude of CEO Vanas Peng and the council of early Federation Representatives.

This partnership between Human and Skrell scientists yielded the advent of cloning technology in 2416. This phenomenal breakthrough lead to many changes in Federation foreign politics. Most direct among these changes was the expansion of the Representative system and the vetting of more potential Representatives. Today, ten Representatives claim Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals as their Entity of Interest, and thousands of Skrell now call this company their employer - being contracted from the Federation, then contracted from Zeng-Hu to Nanotrasen to arrive on the Aurora.

Peoples Republic of Adhomai

There is little interest publicly on the turmoil on Adhomai, with only two representatives for the whole planet. The two Representatives have chosen Adhomaian wildlife and Adhomai's moon as their Entities of Interest respectively.

As of 2461, the Federation has gained interest on the system. Shifts in the geopolitical landscape and requests for help by the Peoples Republic of Adhomai for help has prompted an altruistic response by dispatching a peacekeeping force to protect and help the populace. Presently they avoid direct military intervention and instead provide both protection to key civilian zones and provide supplies to improve local living standards.

Unathi Traditionalist Coalition:

When the Traditionalist Coalition first claimed independence in 2438, it was immediately recognized by many Representatives as the single greatest threat to Unathi progress and prosperity. The Traditionalist Coalition was founded by clans who stood in stern protest of what it saw as “alien influence” and immediately began to wage war against the Izweski clan, who had been willing to learn from both Skrell and Humanity.

Only three Skrell have ever claimed the Unathi Traditionalist Coalition as their Entity of Interest. These people believed that the best way to forgo further Unathi bloodshed was to open relations with the Coalition and help them see that neither the Jargon Federation nor Sol Alliance harboured malicious intent. These Representatives quickly began to lobby members of the Grand Council for the approval of a Grand Peace Delegation.

Weeks of planning went into the assembly and preparation of this self-proclaimed “Grand Delegation” which was quickly growing from the desperate plea of a few Representatives to an exhilarating story of peace for Skrell everywhere. Skrellian news sources described the war between the Unathi factions in poetic, and at times even artistic, terms. This delegation quickly gained popularity with the people of the Federation as a chance to convince a people who were fearful of the strange universe around them to put down their arms and join their brothers who were already working for a better tomorrow.

As this mission of peace was put together, Federation scientists conferred with Izweski engineers to design a new Skrellian cruiser especially made to pay homage to Unathi architecture. Researchers and politicians alike hoped this more familiar design would help to ease the shock that Traditionalist Unathi could feel upon seeing an alien vessel for the first time.

The cruiser finally entered Moghes orbit on March 14th, 2438 and sent its shuttle to the Coalition capital city of Tisxaclas. The shuttle carried with it a crew of hopefuls including a Skrell pilot who was being vetted to teach prospective Unathi pilots how to handle spacecraft, several Ourean politicians who had agreed to the journey as it grew in popularity, a relatively light protection detail of only four Tup Commandos, a Skrellian news reporters, and the three Representatives who had originally proposed the journey. As the shuttle approached the Coalition capital city, it came under heavy fire from Coalition Anti-Air weaponry. Rather than a story of progress and peace, the orbiting cruiser had to relay that the delegates had been killed before they could even land. The cruiser was ordered to leave Moghes and quickly found itself reassigned to a protective orbit around the colony of Ourea.

This event quickly turned the prospect of peace on the Unathi homeworld from hopeful to cold for many Jargon citizens. Ourea continued to receive support from the Federation for years, but all attempts to contact the Unathi Traditional Coalition were abandoned as the Grand Council opted to let the Unathi of Moghes solve their conflict between themselves.

Unathi Hegemony:

The majority of Representatives who currently claim the Hegemony as their Entity of Interest have been involved with Unathi relations since their discovery in 2433. Among these Representatives are over a dozen of the Skrell politicians who fostered the Unathi colonization of Ourea and worked alongside human politicians to govern the planet from 2438 to 2457.

For a time, the best description of their relations is that it does not exist. After numerous attacks and raids on both Federation civilians and JFSF personnel resulting in a number of deaths, injuries and imprisonment by the hands of the Hegemony. The Federation has kept a very restraint hand and simply left the Hegemony, handing over Ourea in the process. Severing most diplomatic channels.

This has changed when the present heir and regent to the Hegemony, Not’zar Izweski has managed to reopen diplomatic channels through summits, cultural exchanges and other treaties, normalizing relations to a degree. With even a young member of the Izweski family, Prince Z’krazki Izweski on his first trip outside their home system, visiting the Federation homeworld of Qerrbalak.

Presently, relations have, as time passes, been getting warmer, permitting trade and travel to occur once more. However, there exist two different points of view on how to handle the Hegemony. One side believes that given their aggressiveness and savagery which have been exhibited in their actions against the Federation, that the Federation should only keep diplomacy as limited as possible while remaining respectful. The other believes that the Federation should once more invest itself into the situation the Hegemony is enduring, that forgiveness should be given and to once more collaborate as to propel them into greater prosperity.

Empire Of Dominia:

The Empire of Dominia has a stable relationship with the Federation, even without any formal embassies. There are, however, Federation sanctioned trade ships entering their space.

Dionaea:

Skrell first discovered the Dionaea in 2320 by stumbling across what they dubbed to be a “pod” of organic life. By studying this pod, the Skrell began to piece together this new form of life. Although not entirely understood, it became clear that groups of the life-form could form thinking units and could learn to comprehend the Skrellian language.

In the year 2331, researchers began giving small clusters of these “Dionae” freedom to move about several population centers while under close observation. These social experiments proved that the Dionaea could be conditioned to work and function within Skrellian culture. This discovery resulted in the rapid conditioning of many Dionaea gestalts. While the majority of these life-forms were under close supervision or were chosen to enter experimental positions in the Skrell workforce, many were offered relative freedom under the condition that Skrell researchers document their behaviors. As these “Nomads” came about, much of the Skrell population began to take an amused interest in the socialization of these gestalts.

Policy regarding the Dionaea was primarily handled by the Grand Council and local or city councils until the year 2426. When a joint operation between Skrell and Humans resulted in the discovery of an organic craft, it became clear to many Federation politicians that the Dionaea should be viewed as an Entity rather than a simple subject of research. This resulted in the hasty formation of a council of five Skrellian Representatives to interact with any foreign Dionaea groups as they were discovered.

The council also held a meeting later in 2426 to explain to Sol Alliance politicians what exactly the “Organic Craft” was made of. With Humanity now aware of the existence of Dionaea as a whole, members of various Federation Councils began suggesting another social experiment for the race. These murmurs were met with legislation in the year 2432, when three Dionaea were successfully vetted and approved to serve as Jargon Federation Representatives.

Vaurca:

Federation policy with the Vaurca hives are a matter of cautious debate. The Grand Council itself has made few public announcements regarding policy with the Vaurca since their discovery in December of 2456. As it stands, a council of five veteran Skrell Representatives oversee relations between the Jargon Federation and all Vaurca hives while a small network of novice Representatives ensures each counsellor is well informed. There is an estimated two to three Representatives in this network for every counsellor.

One of the hives within Federation space is the C'thur. The C'thur have been a guarded secret of the Federation since 2457, when their giant Hive-ship crashed into a planet in Federation space with their dying queen inside. Skrell scientists worked to put their High Queen into life support, while also studying the Vaurca species themselves.

Due to an agreement between the C'thur and the Federation, the hive is to give large amounts of technology, knowledge, and integrate into the Federation as citizens - although they are limited by a variety of restrictions and rules, namely complete oversight and travel restrictions, making this citizenship only true by name, as they do not enjoy the full benefits of this citizenship. Due to the economic nature of the Federation, they find themselves beholden to the Federation, though compared to the other Hives, they live in relative comfort.
