The Idris family, who can trace its lineage to the Ivory Coast on Earth, has long been considered the most powerful family in the Spur, alongside the Trasens, holding great wealth and influence over humanity’s forays into space. It is the overall wealthiest family in the Spur, though much of their wealth is tied up in physical assets unlike the Trasen family. They are known to be highly secretive, pulling the strings from behind the curtains and with a tight control over what information about them is released, though their images often serve as advertising material for many of their products. With the rise of NanoTrasen Corporation and the Trasens, their position has been undercut and a gentle rivalry exists between the two families, further complicating the relations of the megacorporations they both preside over.

The Idris family is an expansive banking dynasty composed of hundreds of family members tracing their lineage to the original William Idris from Ivory Coast, who made a name for himself when he founded Idris Incorporated in 2152 and set the standard for interstellar banking. Multiple branches of the family exist, all operating semi-autonomously under the family name, spread out throughout the Spur and all flaunting their own wealth to further the greater family's agenda wherever they are. Altogether — every branch’s holdings and liquid wealth, person’s net worth, etc., combined — the entire Idris family is estimated to value in the few quadrillions of credits.

Adram Idris inherited Idris Incorporated in 2408, the company having begun to severely lag behind the other megacorporations as a result of his senile father, Ikram Idris, largely sitting unresponsive in the face of NanoTrasen Corporation rapidly establishing its monopoly on phoron, then further rooting its tendrils into the Republic of Biesel where Biesel rapidly grew into the Spur’s foremost financial centre — a financial centre Idris Incorporated did not control. Adram committed to expanding the megacorporation into Tau Ceti’s financial sphere and bringing on a new surge in the company’s fortunes, however the struggle against Corporation would be a tricky one, even if Idris Incorporated under Adram made considerable way in the Republic of Biesel. More generally though, Adram was also responsible for the quick adoption of Integrated Positronic Chasses by the megacorporation, rolling out the well-established Idris synthetic lines.

In 2453, Adram would make the decision to hand over his megacorporation’s reins to Alex Mason — a decision oft speculated about: some believe Mason’s cutthroat and shrewd business strategies may be vital to see Idris Incorporated overtake NanoTrasen; some suspect Mason is a bastard child who Adram raised as his own in all but name, and naturally saw him as the megacorporation’s ‘heir’. In either case, it was a decision that ruffled the feathers of Adram’s ‘legitimate’ children.

Markus has not entertained these rumours and accusations, and any news articles about their rivalry are often swatted down prior to their publishing.

Other Notable Idris Family Members
A thousand stray Idris family members exist around the Spur, donning the name in one form or another and using their connections with both the family and Idris Incorporated to gain an edge in their financial or career dealings. And those are only the ones recognised as Idris family members, with countless more born of clandestine, night-time escapades who may not or who only suspect their parenthood and what could have been.

A patriarch of one of the larger lines of the Idris family, based on the moons of Jupiter, Sol. Seydou and his family are heavily involved in Callisto's port economy, with both the family and regional Idris Incorporated office having invested in the trade, finance, and tourism sector of the Jovian moon, as well as Europa's tourist economy.

Despite the overall Idris familys' wealth made off their megacorporation, and spurred on by the Solarian Alliance's recent stance on megacorporations, Seydou and his line have begun to distance themselves from Idris Incorporated since its joining of the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate. Having been silent on his personal views for most of his life, he has — in his older age, and suspected as a result of dementia affecting his inhibitions — gone on record saying that the megacorporation must abandon the Conglomerate and recognise its investments into phoron as sunk, and that warp transit is simply better and more reliable than bluespace. Since making this stance known, he and his children are often photographed crowded by Einstein Engines executives at any functions. Unfortunately for them, Seydou was entered into hospice in 2467, and his son — Emmanuel Idris — stands waiting to inherit his father's fortune, though has remained utterly silent on whether he has taken his father's views to heart.

However, in 2467, the pair would have a falling out. The only comment regarding the initial fall out came from Angele, who claimed it was all a result of an "ignorant remark" about one of Melissa's synthetic friends, delivered alongside a casual apology. The move to announce such proved catastrophic for his movie Stardom at the time, and he was promptly delisted by the Venusian Stars Institute with no reason cited, but was not without some evidence in the form of a genetics genealogy report to back it up. To this day, the Idris family denounces Mamadou as a fraudster, and Mamadou's struggles to be legally recognised as an Idris perist.

Wealth and Influence
The Idris family wields immense influence over the Orion Spur, though particularly human space within the Solarian Alliance, with its well-lined pockets and through the well-cultivated image of luxury and high society presented by Idris Incorporated. However, in the last century their influence has been undercut by the Trasen family thanks to the success of Corporation, with the phoron family seizing much of the Spur’s reins outside of the Solarian Alliance where their megacorporation does not operate.

What the family’s wealth and influence is put towards typically depends on the line of the family, with some differences between them. However, many of the branches fall in-line with the main Eridanian line, which is generally regarded as a conservative force in the Spur. A significant amount of funding for counter-progressive groups — such as those campaigning against IPC emancipation, legal recognition of xenophilic romantic relations, radical forms of transhumanism, and similar — can be traced to Idris donors. Naturally, Corporatocracist and other pro-megacorporate political parties and groups around the Spur can easily find themselves bankrolled by the megacorporate family.

Historically, the Idris family has also been a strong force for the adoption of phoronic technologies and has maintained their support for such despite the ongoing Phoron Scarcity. However, many experts across fields have long labelled phoron as an unsustainable and unprofitable market, and so many eyes are on the Idris family and whether they too will no longer recognise the unique element as financially viable — something those at Einstein Engines are very keen to see for the amount of Idris investment it will bring to them.

Notable Family Holdings and Heirlooms
Abatta Villa
The ancestral home of the Idrises, held since the 2100s and located in Abidjan, the Ivory Coast, Earth. The property was purchased by William Idris in 2164 after the initial successes of Idris Incorporated shortly after its founding, and was his place of residence for much of his life. The mansion is quite typical for the region, with a simple, modernist architecture and painted the Idris teal with white accenting. Today, the entire cul-de-sac the city villa sits on has been purchased by the Idris family and gated off from public access by Idris Incorporated security personnel employed from the local branch.

The Idris family tree.

An an expansive banking dynasty, it is composed of nearing one-thousand family members, all tracing their lineage to the original William Idris from Ivory Coast, who made a name for himself when he founded Idris Incorporated in 2152 and set the standard for interstellar banking. Multiple branches of the family exist, all operating semi-autonomously under the family name, spread throughout the Spur and all flaunting their own wealth to further the greater family's agenda wherever they are. Altogether — every branch's holdings and liquid wealth, every member's net worth, etc., combined — the entire Idris family is estimated to hold a few quadrillions of credits.

Eridanian Line

The ‘main’ line of the Idris family, and who people think of when the Idris family is mentioned, is the Eridanian Line, who altogether sit on a treasure hoard in the high centi-trillions, and the highest amount of all the branches. They have maintained the reins to Idris Incorporated since its foundation, and have floated between their ancestral home in Ivory Coast, Earth and their main home on Eridani I.

Adram Idris

Born: May 9th, 2370 (Eridani I)

The current patriarch of the Idris family. Adram Idris was the previous Chief Executive Officer of Idris Incorporated prior to installing Alex Mason as the CEO. While he is officially retired, it is an open secret that he continues to pull many of the strings from behind the scenes, and still sits on the board of executives.

Leina Idris

Born: September 21st, 2401 (Eridani I)

The first child of Adram and Rabia. Leina was the face and publicity of the Idris family between the 2420s and 50s — a time in which she was also the CEO of Caishen Jewellers — often seen brokering deals for both the family and Idris Incorporated with other powerful figures and megacorporations. Today, she focuses on the family side of PR, with her daughter having taken over her duties at Caishen Jewellers. Born: July 9th, 2434 (Eridani I)

The daughter of Leina Idris and Emilio. She is the current CEO of Caishen Jewellers and her presence in the media is one of the most widespread of the Idris family, particularly via online social media. Markus Idris

Born: May 27th, 2408 (Earth)

The second child of Adram and Rabia. Markus is a considerably private man and scarcely appears before cameras, best known only for his father passing him for elevation to Idris Incorporated’s CEO in favour of Alex Mason.

What is known about Markus has been spilled by Darius Trasen — the rogue socialite Trasen — who has often claimed that Markus is an uptight individual prone to anger, more so after Mason’s elevation to CEO. Verbal disagreements between the two wealthy men are frequent at any functions or VIP venues they both coincidentally turn up at, and both their families often have to ensure they do not bump into one another, lest a second rumoured physical altercation occur (one which Darius insists he won, despite Markus donning a hefty amount of cybernetics). The Idris family wields immense influence over the Orion Spur, though particularly human space within the Solarian Alliance, with its well-lined pockets and through the well-cultivated image of luxury and high society presented by Idris Incorporated. However, in the last century their influence has been undercut by the Trasen family thanks to the success of NanoTrasen Corporation, with the phoron family seizing much of the Spur’s reins outside of the Solarian Alliance where their megacorporation does not operate.
