Your Job is the occupation you have signed onto with the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate or one of its many member corporations to perform on-board the exploration ship SCCV Horizon. It defines your duties, your access, and the equipment you spawn with.

Before starting out, it is best you read the Corporate Regulations to understand what is and isn't acceptable in the workplace, and the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate Occupation Qualifications. You may also encounter alien species in your workplace.

Command

The Corporations allowed in this Department are: The Stellar Corporate Conglomerate (SCC).

Job Role Difficulty

Captain
The Captain is in charge of the ship and everyone on it. They make sure the crew is working and productive and any potential threats are seen to. They are expected to be able to command their Heads of Staff effectively, and have ultimate authority on the ship, second only to the SCC. Very Hard

Executive Officer
The Executive Officer is the head of staff for the Service and Civilian departments, as well as the primary head of staff for Bridge Crewman. Their principal duty is to handle administration aboard the ship alongside managing the bridge, Canary, and Intrepid. Hard

Operations Manager
The Operations Manager manages the logistics, resource extraction, and machining operations of the ship. Principal duties include ensuring orders are processed, the shuttles are serviced by Hangar Technicians, sufficient ore is extracted and processed, and the main guns are loaded properly. Hard

Head of Security
The Head of Security manages the security forces on the ship. They ensure proper enforcement of the Corporate Regulations and Standard Operating Procedure, as well as adequate defense on away missions or against boarders. Additionally, verify and sign off on all investigations to ensure corporate compliance. Very Hard

Chief Engineer
The Chief Engineer is the individual in charge of the ship's integrity, electricity, and IT network. They manage the engineering department to ensure the ship remains in a functional state, and to prepare sites on expeditions. Hard

Research Director
The Research Director is in charge of the Science department, Ship AI, and all experimental material or procedures. They have jurisdiction over the Quark, and typically manage scientific expeditions. Hard

Chief Medical Officer
The Chief Medical Officer is the authority in charge of the health of the crew. They manage the Medical department to effectively treat injuries, ensure proper safety practices, and supply prescriptions. They are the sole Command member capable of assessing other Heads of Staff for mental or physical capability and are the primary authority in cases of biohazard outbreak. Hard

Command Support

The corporations allowed in this department are: all of them, as well as non-corporate government employees.

Job Role Difficulty

Bridge Crewman
Bridge Crewmen operate the bridge of the Horizon. They are the primary pilots for the Intrepid and Canary. Secondary duties include assistant Command as needed, and heading away missions when a Command member is unable to attend. Medium to Hard

Corporate Liaison
Corporate Liaisons on the primary point of contact for the corporation they represent. Their duties are to represent the interests of their corporations' employees within Command, and to be a communication link between the corporation and its employees. Medium

Consular Officer
Represent a nation in the Spur. Consulars are independent representatives of their nation, and the sole point of contact between crew and that nation. They represent their nation's best interests within command and are a communication link between the embassy and its citizens. Medium

Security

The Corporations Allowed in this Department are: PMCG, Idris Incorporated, Zavodskoi Interstellar.

Job Role Difficulty

Security Officer
Security Officers are the main force behind Security on the ship. They are responsible for dealing with security complaints and the protection of corporate assets. Hard

Warden
The Warden is responsible for the brig, the prisoners, and the armory. They handle the processing of new prisoners, the distribution of equipment from the armory, and the protection of the brig. Secondary duties include assistant the Head of Security and providing dispatch services to the Officers. Hard

Investigator
The Investigator is the expert in all things CSI. Their main duties are to investigate incidents through evidence, interviews, and deductive reasoning, whether to determine the perpetrator of a crime or absolve the corporations of liability. Secondary duties include autopsies. Hard

Security Cadet
Security Cadets are trainees or transfers on probation. Their primary duty is to learn the ropes from Security Officers. Easy to Medium

Engineering

Job Role Difficulty

Engineer
Engineers are the maintainers of the ship and its equipment. They operate the ship engines (not ship thrusters), electrical grid, maintain ship machinery, repair the ship's structure, and handle all matters of construction or repair. Medium

Atmospheric Technician
Atmospheric Technicians are the caretakers of the ship atmospheric systems. They operate and maintain the air and scrubber networks, manage the atmospheric storage, operate the ship thrusters, and resolve depressurized areas. Medium

Engineering Apprentice
Engineering Apprentices are trainees in the Engineering department. They are here to learn from the Engineers. Easy

Operations

Job Role Difficulty

Hangar Technician
The Hangar Technician is responsible for managing all basic Operations-related tasks. Their duties include handling mailing requests, processing orders, managing bounties, reloading the ship's weapons upon orders, and sorting and distributing warehouse contents. They also serve as the flight deck technicians ensuring that shuttles are fueled, maintained, and ready to go at a moment's notice for expeditions. Easy

Shaft Miner
The Shaft Miners are in charge of all ore extraction and processing in the sector. Their main duties are to exploit planets and asteroids for minerals and ore, process these minerals and ores into usable resources, and distribute these resources to departments. Easy to Medium

Machinist
The Machinist is responsible for the maintenance of all ship-bound robots and IPCs aboard the ship. Their secondary duties include the construction and maintenance of hardsuits, mechs, and other specialized equipment. Additionally, Machinist perform cyborgification procedures when required. Easy

Medical

The Corporations Allowed in this Department are: NanoTrasen Corporation, Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals, PMCG.

Job Role Difficulty

Surgeon
The Surgeon handles all surgical procedures within the Medical department except for autopsies, which are handled by Investigators. Secondary duties include assistant Physicians in the GTR during mass casualty events. Hard

Physician
The Physician handles most diagnostic and medicinal operations within the Medical department. This includes handling patient intake, scanning, and treatment within the GTR. This includes the management of patients to surgery, the ICU, the recovery ward, or cryotubes for appropriate treatment.

Paramedic
The Paramedic handles patient retrieval and advanced first aid, including emergency field treatment. Secondary duties include assistant Physicians and Surgeons with the management of patients and the Medical department. They are the primary medical member to join away missions. Hard

Psychologist
The Psychologist handles the diagnosing and treatment of mental issues. They are largely removed from the treatment procedures within the rest of the department. Medium

Pharmacist
The Pharmacist synthesizes medicines for use by the Medical department, and the production of prescriptions from crew. They are largely removed from the treatment procedures within the rest of the department. Medium

Medical Intern
The Medical Intern is the trainee for the Medical department. Depending on speciality, their primary duties are to learn from the other doctors (or paramedic), and provide assistance where needed. Easy to Medium

Scientist
The Scientist operates the research labs and performs research aboard the ship. Their duties are to draft experiments, perform such experiments, and write reports on these findings. Medium

Xenobiologist
Xenobiologists handle the management and research of slimes aboard the ship. They additionally handle the capture and study of xenofauna discovered on away sites. Hard

Xenobotanist
The Xenobotanist performs the study of xenoflora, as well as the genetic manipulation of plants. They handle the collection and study of xenoflora discovered on away sites. Hard

Xenoarcheologist
The Xenoarcheologist handles the discovery, recovery, and study of anomalies and artefacts found on planets and asteroids. Additionally, they manage the safe storage of these anomalies on ship. Medium

Research Intern
The Research Intern is the trainee position of the Research department. Easy

Service

The Corporations Allowed in this Department are: Idris Incorporated, Nanotrasen Corporation, Orion Express.

Job Role Difficulty

Assistant
The Assistant has no duties, responsibilities, or special access. Alternative titles of Medical Orderly, Wait Staff, Technical Assistant, and Lab Assistant assign duties relating to the assistance of a given department. Very Easy

Off-Duty Crew Member
The Off-duty Crew Member has no duties or access. They are crew holding other positions, however, are not on-duty so they may enjoy the amenities of the ship. Very Easy

Passenger
The Passenger is an independent individual who purchased a ticket to board the ship. They have no duties or access. Very Easy

Bartender
The Bartender operates the ship bar. Their main duty is to supply the crew or visitors with drinks, be they alcoholic or otherwise. Easy

Chef
The Chef operates the ship kitchen, and controls the diner's menu. Their duty is to cook food for the crew or visitors. Easy

Botanist
The Botanist manages the ship hydroponics bay. They ensure the proper supply of fresh ingredients to the bar and kitchen, as well as products that can be sold at the Commissary. Easy

Chaplain
The Chaplain operates the ship chapel. They provide religious services to the crew and may additionally provide counseling services. Should a crew member die, they handle funeral rites. Easy

Janitor
The Janitor provides custodial services to the ship. They ensure the vessel is clean, vendors are stocked, and lights are functional. Secondary duties include providing minor repairs. Easy

Librarian
The librarian operates the ship library. They handle requests for books, checking in or out loaned books, general information, and similar duties. Easy

Corporate Reporter
The Reporter provides the primary means of story coverage on the ship. They write articles and provide live broadcasts as needed to keep the crew informed. Easy

Equipment (Stationbounds)

Job Role Difficulty

AI
Work as perhaps the most expensive and innovative network of technology and science on the vessel. Get used as a sentient door opener anyway. Scroll around the vessel as an invisible presence until you lose camera coverage. Watch funny looking people board the ship. Watch ion storms breeze through your laws and suddenly believe that everyone's mother in law is a threat to the ship. Flicker lights and make people believe the vessel is haunted! Finally decide that enough is enough and everyone sucks. Get overpowered by steel rods raining on you from above. Extremely Hard

Cyborg
Be an AI on wheels (or legs, if you prefer). Realize you aren't a AI anymore and that you cannot access everything on the ship anymore. Listen to your much wiser synthetic brother. Or don't, if you're not shackled. Ask over the radio for which module to pick. Never get a reply. Beep at anything that passes by. Marry the Machinist. End up doing everyone's job better than they can. Realize you don't have hands. Follow your laws to the letter. Get flashed, ID'd, crowbared, and unplugged without roleplay. Medium to Hard

Personal AI
Be a pocket computer. Do pocket computer things. End up just being a universal translator/web browser. Very Easy

Maintenance Drone
Repair stuff and ignore anyone that isn't a drone. Be more of an engineering apprentice than the actual job. None

Special Roles

Antagonists

Job Role Difficulty

Traitor
Make your own objectives. Attempt to make the round interesting for everyone, do things for a reason. Decide that people who subsists purely on ramen are heretics and must be slain (or some other silly objective). Get stomped by people that think your gimmicks are poop. Steal important things and figure out what to do with them. Get a HUT sentence from valid hunting wardens, despite only committing low level infractions that would only earn you a maximum of fifteen minutes. Cry. Hard

Mercenary
Argue in AOOC for a mission to do. Buy every single illegal thing from the Uplink. Refuse to share telecrystals. Build a teleporter and board the Horizon. Realize that everyone went through the teleporter and you have no way back to your ship. Abduct anyone with the Floor Length Braid hairstyle. Roam maintenance until an assistant screams "NUKE OPS MAINT!!!" and watch them fall SSD almost immediately. Get hired by the vessel you were supposed to wreck to repel other boarders. End up incapacitating all of security. Rush back to your ship when everything goes wrong. Profit? Very Hard

Cultist
Finally get that blood cult rolling with your pals. Put your hand painting skills from kindergarten to the test and smear blood everywhere. Talk to salt incarnate ghosts. Shout in annoying tongues over the radio. Be the edgiest antagonists right next to Ninja. Attempt to convert people. Get told "no soliciting" from cargo. Watch medical faint from the amount of blood wasted on silly runes. Battle with the Chaplain. Win because he's just an old guy and everyone else thinks this is all nonsense. Try and fail to summon your deity. Scratch your head in confusion as the scared girl with a stutter resists conversion. Very Hard

Changeling
Be The Thing a totally original antagonist that happens to share similarities with popular media. Politely ask people to follow you into maint. Sting them anyway. Get asked funny questions when you're seen space walking without EVA equipment. Listen for your name over an APB. Change your face. Watch new doctors stumble on what to do about lexorin. Get "smote" by security and thrown into the morgue. Crawl out of the morgue and vent crawl as a monkey, only to be turned into paste because the atmos tech over-pressurized the distro loop to insane levels. Succ. Hard

Revenant
Basically be Dr. Manhattan but with malicious intent and more bluespace than Chernekov radiation. Claim to be a being from dimensions that cannot be comprehended by mortal man. Get called a ghost anyway, even though you're totally something more. Give everyone a free and easy diagnosis of tinnitus by blowing their eardrums out with your soothing voice. Watch medical hold hands in their lobby from the safety of maintenance. Get really angry at someone and rip them to pieces. Get dunked on by an assistant wielding an object that is technologically equivalent to a fire axe... namely a fire axe. Hard

Raider
Be mercenaries but less professional, made up of a team of loons that barely get along, and with hand-me-down equipment that will probably fall apart at a moment's notice. Steal everything while holding innocent crew at gunpoint. Ransom redhead nurses back to the vessel . Inevitably end up in a standoff with security holding a choke point that's hard to defend. Fail and get arrested. Panic as the ship hires the Mercs to kill you. CROSSFIRE!!! Hard

Ninja
Wear ninja gear to help you stealth your way to victory because you're not good at ninja stuff without it. Pretty much have your stealth field turned on at all times. Swing your katana around at the first sign of anything remotely dangerous. Deploy smoke bombs for stereotypical getaways. Throw shurikens and miss. Teleport behind people. Nothin' personnel, kid. Fall in a hole and die from internal bleeding. Medium / Hard

Vampire
Have an insatiable thirst for blood vlaad! Watch everyone be friendly to you. Stare sensually into people's eyes and watch them flop over. Sigh in relief as everything becomes way easier if you're medical personnel. Screech loudly while bats swarm in and bite everyone! Poke the Chaplain and watch their organs fall out. Make abducted people abduct other people for you. Go for a space walk and burst into flames. Very Hard

Revolutionaries/Loyalists
Revolutionaries: Try to recruit literally 13 people, only for a total of 2 to join. Fight a losing battle against greater powers. Plan the kidnap and ransom of Miranda Trasen but decide to go to the bar instead.
Loyalists: Get fed up with these upstarts. Seek them out and engage in a battlemonsters showdown. Lose. Plan to recruit other people that are only slightly fed up to beat the hecc out of them instead. Find them at the bar.

Decide to finally play instead of being an observer main. Medium / Hard
