Updates to the page to accommodate the vagueness in the writing, and mechanical changes. probably needs a more detailed rewrite later but I'm too tired to handle that rn

Welcome to the medbay, greenhorn! If you're in this position, then that must mean that you have absolutely no idea what you're doing! Or maybe you do have a semblance of an idea of what you're supposed to do but are not comfortable enough to play a fully-fledged doctor yet. Regardless, the intern role is the medical department's learner role, so you are given the space and room to learn the mechanics or refamiliarize before jumping in. However, once you understand the mechanics, move into one of the non-learner roles listed below to make room for others. Remaining in a learner role when you are knowledgeable on the department mechanics may be handled by server staff.

It is worth noting that the intern role is not designed to graduate to the Physician role specifically. Alternative titles allow you to choose in what you want to learn. Surgical Resident, Paramedic Trainee, and other titles allow you to specialize into one of the many fields of medical. It additionally changes your responsibilities and expectations. While a resident may be expected to assist in the General Treatment Room, the Paramedic Trainee would be expected to shadow a Paramedic around the ship. This additionally changes the age requirements and educational requirements. A basic overview is below.
*Interning to become a Physician: Triage, using syringes/hyposprays, operating IV drips, first aid, medical diagnostics (health analyzer and body scanner use), sleeper and cryotube operation, etc.
*Interning to become a Surgeon: No, you don't have to be a Physician before transitioning to this role... if you aren't some 18 year old at least. You can do pretty much everything a Physician can, and you can do surgery.
*Interning to become a Pharmacist: Chemistry dispenser and ChemMaster operation, first aid (if you're certified).
*Interning to become an Paramedic: Triage, using hyposprays, first aid, health analyzer use, sleeper operation.

As a Medical Resident you are not there to run the Medbay, instead you are there to help keep it running smoothly while working toward getting hands on training and experience for whatever field you are specializing in. Your character is not an expert. You should be lookign for more experienced players and characters to work with to better learn your field.

 • Interning to become a Physician: Triage, using syringes/hyposprays, operating IV drips, first aid, medical diagnostics (health analyzer and body scanner use), sleeper and cryotube operation, etc.
 • Interning to become a Surgeon: No, you don't have to be a Physician before transitioning to this role... if you aren't some 18 year old at least. You can do pretty much everything a Physician can, and you can do surgery.
 • Interning to become a Pharmacist: Chemistry dispenser and ChemMaster operation, first aid (if you're certified).
 • Interning to become an Paramedic: Triage, using hyposprays, first aid, health analyzer use, sleeper operation.
