Supervisors: Your current employer, the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate
Found across the spur in all different shapes and sizes, Freelance Mercenaries are a catch all ERT of unaligned killers for hire. They have no real goals beyond profit, but mostly their goals is aligned with those of their current employer. This is arguably the most simple of the available emergency response teams, however their kit is usually very powerful, with a Rhino hardsuited Leader, a medical professional, and several killers sporting 10mm SMGs. Playing Freelancers involves your own private military company, provided you’re the leader, any details regarding it are essentially improv.
Should this ERT be spawned, it is implied that the SCC has already paid for you to respond to any potential distress beacons, so do not asked to be paid by Horizon command once you respond, as doing so is against the rules.
Interstellar Aid Corps
AKA “Where my guns at”
Supervisors: The Interstellar Aid Corps
The Interstellar Aid Corps are an available ERT role that involves playing the members of the famed IAC. A organization whose only stated goal is to no matter the circumstance, ensure the well-being of all individuals on the station with very little exception. Essentially, if they aren’t trying to murder you, you may as well be helping them no matter the circumstance. It’s not recommended to pick up this role without some basic medical knowledge in-game. It is important to understand as well that the IAC ERT is not going to hold their own through conflict - as they lack any major weapons of their own.
While the IAC as an organization has a noble goal, it's volunteers are regularly the center of scandals, due to poor hiring standards, lack of funds, and failure to manage relief efforts. Many within the spur look upon the IAC with distrust, and they are not always welcomed as heroic savoirs.
Republican Kosmostrelki
AKA “Hadii's Grace Comrades”
Supervisors: The PRA Orbital Fleet, and The Party Commissar
Republican Kosmostrelki are the space-borne infantry of the People's Republic of Adhomai, extensively trained and harshly monitored by their parent government. Their goal as the ERT is the same as most others focused on combat, to defeat whatever is threatening the ship, but to do so with the wrath of Hadii himself. After all, Biesel and NanoTrasen are some of the staunchest allies of the PRA, having supported them through the bloody Second Revolution against royalists and counter-revolutionaries. Due to their extensive training, every member of the Kosmostrelki will have basic engineering and medical knowledge, with two specialists for each field. Due to the PRAs small fleet, they are mostly only found within the Badlands.
The Kosmostrelki is comprised of only Tajara from the People's Republic of Adhomai, and is a volunteer service that can be applied for by any current member of the Republican Army. Due to the difficult process of becoming a Kosmostrelki, they are the most trusted branch of the armed forces by the Hadiist party, resulting in a much more relaxed attitude among it's members. With that said though, remember, the Commissar is always watching.
FSFV Sforza Marine Detachment
AKA "SIR YES SIR OORAH"
Supervisors: FSFV Sforza Command, Admiral Pieter van der Rensburg, any SCC member corporation command staff
The Free Solarian Fleet Marine detachment is an available ERT comprised of a fireteam of former Solarian marines now loyal to the Free Solarian Fleets, and Admiral van der Rensburg. Most of their work is within the Middle Ring Shield Pact, where they defend the warlord state from its enemies in the SRF and Anti-Corporate League. However, Rensburg has recognized that there is an opportunity for credits elsewhere and allows several ships of his fleet to venture around the spur looking for work. The FSFV Sforza is one such ship. Due to in-game events during the Dreary Futures arc, relations between the Horizon and the FSF are at an all-time low, so the FSF may demand payment from the Horizon onboard. However, remember that you are not the same crew as the Caraviaggo, and may not even know what transpired between the Horizon and it until a crewmember informs you. This ERT is found mostly in the Romanavich Cloud or Tau Ceti's gravity well.
Eridani PMC Medical Response Team
AKA "What do you need Esteemed Colleague?"
Supervisors: Money, any SCC member corporation command staff
The EPMC Medical Response Team is a available ERT comprised of a Eridani Medical Section and its accompanying asset protection specialists. They are mercenaries hired by the SCC to respond to potential distress signals onboard its's installations and heavily emphasize medical knowledge. The section is led by a doctor, who has two corpsmen and two asset protection specialists under them. As they are part of an EPMC, as found on the Private Military Contracting Group page, the options for which PMC you pick are limited. However, no matter which you pick, remember that as part of the PMCG, you are a part of the SCC, and should not demand payment or turn on the crew for credits.
Offship Roles
With the Horizon operating in mostly civilized and explored space, it will throughout the course of it's mission encounter people who are unassociated with the Horizon, whether it be the crew of an Orion shipping vessel, or the low-paid workers of a space bar near local mining areas. These people will be played by other players, and the positions fall under the category of offship roles, as suggested by the title of this section. There are many different offship roles, but all of them have the same basic idea which governs how they interact with the ship.
Things to know
Before we get to what roles there are, and how they should be played, there are some things that need to be made clear, both from the perspective of the ship and those playing the offship roles.
- OFF-SHIP ROLES ARE NOT INHERENTLY ANTAGONISTS.
- This is important to get out of the way. While some gamemodes might have third-party assets with offship roles that are antagonistic, offship roles are not the same as rolling an antagonist, or getting the spiderqueen spawn on older away sites. You are under the same rules of character believability as normal crewmembers. This also means that interactions between the crew of the Horizon and those playing offship roles are considered canon, with some caveats.
- Playing offship roles like antagonists is a quick way to get a bwoink from the admins. It's considered self-antagging, and shouldn't be done.
- The SCC doesn't want harmful incidents with it's flagship project that interfere with making money, and no-one wants to piss off the SCC.
- Simply put, whoever employs you, whether as a crewmember of the horizon, or a elyran sailor on a naval patrol boat, does not want any incidents which could harm their relationship with anyone else. Escalation of, or starting any hostile situation except in the most dire of circumstances would be viewed IC'ly in the same way as not doing your job, and most assuredly end up in you being fired. When in doubt, match force, and start attempting to work towards de-escalation.
- OOC'ly, act like you would with your normal crewmember characters, if conflict makes sense you are more then welcome to go for it. Don't do things you wouldn't do with a character you care about.
- You're there to Roleplay.
- While you're not required to interact with the Horizon, it is a nice thing to do. Tell a story with them, this could be stopping for supplies, asking if you could use their facilities to relax after a long journy, or anything your mind can think of, given the previous two points.
- Don't stunt roleplay either, dogpiling antagonists and getting involved in security situations when you're presence is unnecessary will be considered valid-hunting in the eyes of administrators and moderators.
- Sometimes the ship might also be dealing with too much to be able to tell a story with you as an offship role, there could be an active bloodcult aboard currently escalating with security, and they don't want to engage in the amazing idea you had of telling war stories by the bar as TCFL soldiers. Part of playing offship roles is understanding that there may be times where the ship does not require assistance, but also does not want you aboard to tell a story with them, and realizing that there will be rounds where the only interaction you get with the Horizon is limited and over holo-comms.
Orion Express Courier Ship
AKA "We have a delivery!"

Tasked with delivering a multitude of packages across the spur, the OX courier ship can be found in most regions of space, delivering it's packages. It's crewed by a captain and team of couriers, who, like the ship, have travelled around the spur.
TCFL Patrol
AKA "Let us go home..."
Supervisors: The Republic of Biesel
Fresh out of, or still in, the pirate ridden area of the Corporate Reconstruction Zone, you are a team of TCFL Peacekeepers led by your Prefect who patrol the CRZ, or outside of it, fighting pirates and keeping the light of liberty shining in one of the darkest corners of the spur. As members of the TCFL, you are loyal to the Biesel Government, and due to the sway megacorporations hold over it, the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate.

As members of the Elyran navy, you and your fellow crewmates work aboard one of the navy's many patrol vessels, either in the Badlands or in Valley Hale.
Free Solarian Fleet Corvette
AKA "Y'all got some credits?"
Supervisors: Admiral Pieter van der Rensburg
Mercenaries for hire, the Free Solarian Fleets patrol Tau Ceti's space on contract with the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate and Biesel Government. You hunt pirates and look for any work that might net you another payday. You are commanded by a former Lieutenant of the Solarian Navy, now your superior within the Free Solarian Fleets.

Seen in all areas of space, Space Bars have a simple goal. To serve drinks to their customers! They may be miners, travelers, or anyone! You don't care, as long as they don't do anything untowardly to you or your bar.
Southern Fleet Administration Survivors
AKA "Man fuck the skrell!"
Supervisors: They're all dead man!
Granted safe-haven by your allies in the Republic of Biesel, you represent the scattered remains of the former Southern Fleet Administration. You managed to escape the utter destruction of your battlefleet by the angered Nralakk Federation, and the dividing up of your territory by rivals. Now you reside in dark corners of the Orion Spur, never venturing beyond it. Your only goal is to survive and find work in this strange new space you find yourself in.
PRA Dataship
AKA "He wishes to survey the planets."
Supervisors: The PRA Orbital Navy
Made from adapted designs of the first freighter Tajara ever worked upon, Database freighters are PRA vessels made specially for gathering information on star systems and what passes through them. They are equipped with several portholes that open to extend far-reaching antennae that can pick up signals from ships or launch radio waves to track moving objects in space. The fleets of the Kosmostrelki usually have a few and some remain in orbit in the S’rend’marr and Hro’zamal systems. One vessel attempted to defect to the ALA during the war and was swiftly turned to scrap by an Orbital Navy destroyer. These ships can be found in the badlands, and other PRA affiliated systems.
PRA Mining Jack
AKA "He mines for Hadii!"
Supervisors: The People's Republic of Adhomai, but really yourself.
A skipjack would usually be seen in the hands of smugglers but Tajara have developed an ingenious way of mining. Instead of using a large ship to land on an asteroid and deploying a mining crew, these small, one-pilot Jacks simply cut away a part of an asteroid and take it back to a mining station. There it is processed while the skipjack flies off to the asteroid again. This also means that the crews are on their own, and if anything goes wrong they'll end up stranded and without any immediate help. These ships can be found in the badlands, and other systems around Adhomai.
Free Tajaran Army Smugglers
AKA "FUCK THE SOLARIANS!"
Supervisors: Yourself
Born from the third Tajara ban and general oppression, bordering on the genocide of the species by the Solarian Government, the Free Tajaran Army is a quasi-terrorist organization that works to smuggle Tajara out of Sol. In this ghost role, you play a member of a station along the route these smugglers use, protecting it against any threats to the refugees, while extorting them all the while to fund your terrorist activities. While not outright associated with any Tajara Faction, many have drawn comparisons between the DPRA and the Free Tajaran Army, leading many more to link the two together.
Kataphracts
AKA “Toggle run, again”
Supervisors: Chapter Leader, Honor
Kataphracts, otherwise known as Saa’Izweski in the Sinta’Unathi tongue, are an ancient class of warriors that has recently been revived by Not’zar Izweski into active service. They are seen as the epitome of warriorhood and the best or the best of the Unathi species due to their battle prowess, recognized by either the Hegemon, an Overlord, or another Kataphract for strength and bravery as one would a knight. They’re sworn to defend the Hegemony and must strictly follow the Unathi Honor Code, but are only called upon in times of active war and thus spend the rest of their lives ranging across the galaxy in search of challenges to test themselves against. They can be found throughout the spur, but are most common in the Badlands and Sparring Sea. Their means of doing so are often quite different than other modern militaries though, as Unathi honor favors one-on-one melee combat and fighting dishonorably can quickly have a Kataphract stripped of their illustrious title. Be sure you follow these laws and perhaps don’t charge directly into combat sword first. Or you can-- once.
Despite their fanaticism with Unathi Honor in the end Kataphracts are loyal to the Hegemon, and will not betray him or the Hegemony without very good reason.
Skrell Smugglers

Coalition of Colonies Patrol
AKA "LIVING FREE IN THE C-O-C!"
Crewing a Xansan-class light attack ship, the CoC patrol is made up of several Coalition Rangers, military personnel who act on the behalf of the Coalition as a whole, as well as the specific member state from which they come. They are led by a Ranger Leader who commands the gunboat and act primarily to protect the interests of whichever Coalition Member state they pledge loyalty to, while also protecting the interests of the CoC as a whole. They can be found across the spur, but primarily in the frontier of the Badlands or within the CRZ.
