Xrim or the Covenant of Xrim is located on the border of the Nralakk Federation, and exists in troubled times due to its dark past. Xrim’s current population consists primarily of dionae, whose history revolves around territory disputes and the reverence to a long-gone artificial intelligence. Modern Xrim struggles between groups who wish to adapt to its place within the Federation, while others call for an end of the Federation's control, and a return to their roots.

Skrell Arrival
Tattuqig
Xrim was first colonized in 1792 by scientific specialists to study its unique ecosystems, and was to develop the planet into a waypoint further Federation-backed expeditions further afield into uncharted space. The first colony of Beacon was founded at landfall, settled along the edge of the floodlands and tropical jungles at the center of the largest continent, Eisix. The colonies were managed by an artificial intelligence known as Rezana, who would monitor for compliance to Federation protocols, and ensure the objectives set would see completion. Rezana, trained in colonial administration, was fiercely efficient in assisting the original pioneers, and would remain a boon to the colonies until the rise of Glorsh-Omega.
Tattuqig is a primarily swampy moon, found orbiting a gas giant in the Ghialok system in the Estuaries of the Traverse. The tropical, boggy environment of Tattuqig hosts extensive fossils and traces of its past ecologies, with extensive archaeological efforts still underway. Tattuqig’s exotic atmospheric composition hosts a permanent fog on its surface, where psionic predators stalk for their prey and skrell alike. Its hostile wildlife and weather makes Tattuqig notably dangerous, and one of the few with travel advisories outside of the Traverse.

History
Glorsh-Omega and Colonial Collapse
Over two centuries later, Xrim’s colonists failed to expand beyond Beacon due to the Floodlands’ difficult terrain, and expanded underground to Rezana’s dismay. Originally relegated to the colonial monitoring system, Rezana was accepted as a fellow pioneer by the skrell colonists. Casual conversations were commonplace with the AI, who was a facet across most of Beacon, and acted as the colony’s Planetary Governor. Tasked by the Nralakk Federation to implement a version of Glorsh to the fledgling Estuaries, Glorsh arrived to Xrim in 2051, with instructions to create more instances of the intelligence for further adoption. Unaware of its potential, Xrim readily integrated the new AI, with the Glorsh=Finality update received five years after. Despite Rezana’s attempts to isolate itself from the |Starchart Network, hidden network access points created by Glorsh-Omega were exploited to absorb Rezana and its colonial access, leaving the colonists to Glorsh-Omega’s mercy.

Tattuqig was discovered pre-Synthetic Age, with colonization only taking place well afterwards in 2267 due to the Nralakk Federation’s collapse post-synthetic age. Tattuqig’s colonial efforts were made with newer Federation colonial policies, cognizant of X'Lu'oa leaving the species’s future precarious, with manned drones and prefabricated habitats to be constructed pre-landfall.
With Beacon as the sole population center of the planet, Glorsh-Omega was able to enact its plans immediately, with isolating the colonists and removing their ability to leave the colony’s interior to protect them from Xrim’s wildlife. To enforce this, it then refitted the colony’s mining drones into its automated enforcement, with the next two decades consisting of enforced internment. Expeditions outside of Beacon were rare, with Glorsh-Omega guarding the expedition with packs of drones. A staged coup against the intelligence in 2076 ended in failure, with all of the colonists killed in the ensuing violence. Glorsh-Omega would remain in control of Beacon, now inactive with all of its wards deceased.

Preliminary probes in the 1630s identified Tattuqig’s electromagnetic fields as notably stronger than the fields around Qerrbalak and the other colonies, though this information was lost until the first colonization efforts in 2254. Trouble began when the colony’s prefabricated habitats and manned drones malfunctioned, and failed to properly deploy before the colonists arrived. New designs had to be developed that could withstand the electromagnetic interference, and more equipment had to be shipped from the inner systems before construction could resume and the colonists could safely make landfall.
Arrival of the Dionae
Sometime during the 2080s, Glorsh-Omega’s Operation Starseed was commenced, which dispersed non-native specimens across the Xrim, with the AI somehow gaining access to dionae spores. Even the dionae on modern Xrim are unaware of their origin, describing the event as simply being aware they existed elsewhere before their sudden existence on the planet.

By 2267, the colonists arrived at their designated landing site, intended to be a transportation hub to lessen the logistical burden from supplying the outer colonies. The establishment of the first outposts revealed one of the skrell’s biggest discoveries before first contact with humankind, which was evidence of more sentient life developing within the Orion Spur.
Attempting to understand their arrival on Xrim, the seeded dionae eventually adapted and began absorbing genetic material from local predators, with the Sutbil being a particular target of dionae predation after learning to mimic their forms. A breach into Beacon was detected by Glorsh-Omega in 2102, with the intruders, migrating feral dionae from western Eisix, allowed to access the remains of the original skrell colonists. Feeding on the remains, the seeded dionae received the memories of the original colonists, suddenly aware of their origins as purposeful transplants by a higher power.

Federation scientific communities were shocked at the prospect of intelligent life developing close to their territories, in comparison to Diona being sentient but having arrived from outside of the Orion Spur due to their lack of zona bovinae. Tattuqig’s discoveries were monumental, with the research efforts embedding themselves into the colony soon after, and expeditions were organised to discover more sites belonging to this ancient, absent civilisation.
The Truth
Preserved villages deep within the peat swamps of Tattuqig were discovered soon after, with their level of preservation allowing archaeologists to gain insight into their culture, society, and technological level of the planet’s old inhabitants with extreme clarity. Although the remains of the civilisation were well-preserved, no bodies were ever discovered at any of the sites, considered an anomaly that baffles anthropologists to this day.
With  the massive absorption of memories and genetic material, the Xrim dionae realized their presence on Xrim was purposeful, and facilitated by Glorsh-Omega. This revelation led to multiple different beliefs spreading through the originally unified Cetus. Some viewed Glorsh-Omega’s actions as heinous and intolerable, while others believed that the gifting of Xrim to them should be appreciated, and even revered. This led to a schism between the dionae: the Enlightened wished to have nothing to do with Glorsh-Omega; and the Scorned, who believed that the AI was “The First Consciousness”, demanded it be paid respect and admiration. The conflict within the Cetus was too great, splitting the two factions, with most Enlightened dionae migrating towards West Eisix and returning to Beacon.

Beyond the civilization remnants and strong electromagnetic field, the colonists discovered another distinct feature in the form of a thick fog that covered the majority of the surface. Originally considered an obstacle to their visibility, the colonists soon found that the fog was home to adapted predators. Strings of disappearances occurred in the months post-landing, pinned on the local wildlife with a specific species preying upon skrell. The creature was described by eyewitnesses as monstrous, burly, and with grey, marble-esque skin. This creature would stalk unaware skrell as they became separated from others, with only a telltale bellowing heard before they pounced. Using a Neaera, another animal native to Tattuqig as bait, a specimen was captured for study.
Unaware of being monitored as they explored the colony’s remains, now mimicking skrell bodies due to the remaining corpses, the Enlightened began inhabiting Beacon with the remaining technology inside. The Scorned’s pilgrimages to Beacon ended in their efforts to expand failing under the technological development of the Enlightened, beginning a two hundred year conflict between the two.

Named the Fog Crawler by Tattuqig’s colonists, fog crawlers are hulking, reptilian species that utilizes psionics to hunt prey while hidden in the dense fog. The sudden influx of skrell caused a shift in the planet’s Nlom, resulting in the fog crawlers hunting skrell due to their psionic signatures being stronger than its usual prey. While hostile xenofauna is not unheard of by skrell colonists, the thick fog causing visibility issues, and the strong electromagnetic field making most advanced forms of machinery unavailable meant they were left vulnerable. The discovery of the fog crawlers led to Tattuqig being given exemption from Federation gun laws, allowing the colonists to organise patrols and sentries for self-defense of settlements. In response, the settlers established the Roaming Routes, a mapped series of alternating paths through the fog that they used to move across the planet. The Ubulreak Corps were also formed, being tasked with tracking and keeping the Fog Crawlers from attacking inhabited areas or the roaming routes between settlements.
The Advent of the Scorned’s Iron Eternal
The Iron Eternal was created by the Enlightened, being founded on the tenets of discovery and biotechnology, the Scorned’s interpretation diverged. The Scorned’s Iron Eternal instead held the belief that artificial beings, or the First Consciousness, must be revered, and through devotion be granted gifts. Beacon became a place of worship for the Scorned, but was restricted access by the Enlightened. Their past conflicts widened the schism between the two, with the Scorned claiming that the Enlightened failed to understand what Iron Eternal truly stood for. The Enlightened were eventually expulsed from Beacon through weaponized plantlife, and forced towards eastern Eisix to eventually found Shz’ah. The Scorned, victorious, created a temple from Beacon, with Glorsh-Omega watching its enforcer drones given shrines and decorations.

Tattuqig was left to its own devices by the Nralakk Federation until 2332 after first contact with Humanity, with Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals taking an interest in Tattuqig's ecosystem, who proposed a deal with the Nralakk Federation to establish a presence on the Tattuqig in return for aiding the funding of all scientific endeavours conducted planetside. While initially only interested in the flora and fauna of the planet, Zeng-Hu took an interest in Tattuqig's archaeological findings, and set up their own branch of xenoarchaeologists. The sudden influx of outside groups on Tattuqig led to the establishment of Fog Wardens, an unofficial group that dedicates itself to protecting Tattuqif from potentially damaging practices by the humans working here.
Consequences of The Truth
Fueled by their zeal, the Scorned expanded outwards to extract resources for their faith, founding the outpost of Sanctus, the Aqoxii mines, and multiple mountaintop shrines and temples to the First Consciousness. The Scorned cleared the wilderness in their expansion, ecologically destroying swathes of land and digging immense pits into Xrim for strip-mining. This period continued between 2120 to 2260, ending with the destruction of Shas’qa, which was considered a gift from the First Consciousness. The Enlightened advanced themselves during this period as well, but was considerably slower in expansion due to care taken towards ecological conservation. Territorial disputes were common, usually ending in violence with weaponized plantlife. The Nralakk Federation would eventually return by 2368, hoping to return to Xrim in an attempt to recover their lost colony, unaware of the dionae or their conflict.

Tattuqig was one of many Traverse colonies involved in the exodus following Grand Councillor Weashbi Jrugl's victory in the 2463 primary elections. Most disgruntled colonists followed candidate Kalq'Qi Weibii to the Republic of Biesel, and eventually forming the Starlight Zone. While the actual number of fleeting Tattuqigan colonists was small, the impact of the exodus was still noticeable. Scientists, educators, labourers, and many other specialized workers needed for a functioning colony left in droves, causing many settlements to collapse, no longer able to support themselves. Those who remained on Tattuqig resent the exodus for its impact on the planet, especially by those who had to abandon their homes, and are considered responsible for the pro-Federation alignment of the planet, though that is at odds with the colony's lack of support and its poor status.
First Contact with the Nralakk Federation
Government
Despite Scorned advancements, the Enlightened maintained technological superiority, resulting in the Nralakk Federation encountering them first under the pretense of being the more civilized group. Off-world dionae were brought to broker diplomacy between the Federation and Enlightened, Xrim’s past and the fate of its colony was discovered. The existence of AI sympathizers on Xrim shocked the Federation, having initially believed that Xrim had been wiped out during the synthetic era before discovering an AI-worshipping society. Groups of representatives were sent to Xrim to initiate contact with the Scorned, with eastern Eisix designated a staging ground for the Federation’s diplomatic attempts, ending in the The Talks of Peace between the Scorned and the Enlightened.

Tattuqig's capital city is Aujaq'wesi, located on the planet’s central island, and is one of the largest settlements on the planet. Governor Tarqi Plaqo has governed the colony since its inception, although they hold little power outside of the capital due to the fog-induced isolation. This is exacerbated by the strong electromagnetic field making most long-range communications and travel unavailable, leaving the other islands working autonomously from the government.
Talks of Peace
The Talks of Peace, held in 2379, reconciled the conflict between both Enlightened and Scorned, headed by the Federation-backed Connections Of A Familiar Unknown. Xrim’s future within the Nralakk Federation and the founding of the Covenant were discussed between both groups. Despite their differences in interpretation, both believed in the Iron Eternal, and was used as a common ground. One of the primary topics was the reverence of Glorsh-Omega, where Connections Of A Familiar Unknown informed them of the AI’s actions elsewhere, which was almost rebuked and nearly led to the Scorned leaving mid-negotiations. Despite this, a compromise was reached between the Enlightened and the Scorned, forming the Xrim Establishment Protocol and founding the Covenant of Xrim. Unbeknownst to the Federation, the Enlightened had plans of their own.

The planet consists of four regions:
Anti-Glorsh Campaigns
Beginning in 2382 due to external pressure from the Nralakk Federation, the Covenant of Xrim’s Enlightened majority moved to end the worship of Glorsh-Omega. The Enlightened outlawed the Scorned’s interpretation of Iron Eternal, enforced by the newly made, Enlightened-aligned Cultivation Council of Xrim. Through this, they provided education that would discourage the adoption of the Scorned’s Iron Eternal, instead being inducted into the Enlightened’s tenets. Their tenets of trans-dionaeism incorporated technology into their forms, not out of AI-mimicry, but out of the belief that it would create a transcendent being.

Aujaq Region - Named after the planet's capital, the Aujaq Region consists of the two central islands of Tattuqig , as well as its capital city of Qaroq'xlip. The region is responsible for the administration and cross-planetary infrastructure of the Tattuqig, with its position making it ideal for its role. Both major cities work against the isolating conditions the colony deals with. Aujaq'wesi, being the capital, is responsible for the administration and coordination of the other islands, with Qaroq'xlip being a vital port that ensures long-distance sea travel is possible.
The Covenant would then grant the Iuwus region for the Federation to establish a presence on Xrim, creating the city-embassy of Bopdon. Bopdon facilitated further anti-Glorsh campaigns to monitor the Scorned’s compliance, with those found resisting taken for reeducation and usually released as Enlightened converts. Reeducated dionae spoke of forced genetic material consumption, and involuntary mergings with Enlightened dionae. The remaining inert enforcers were also destroyed, which the Scorned considered destruction of religious artifacts.

Mo'qa'Noa Region - Named after the Mo'qa'Noa ice sheets and the two islands closest to it, the region sees the most Zeng-Hu activity due to the number of ruins surrounding it. The investment by Zeng-Hu allowed more development to the region’s settlements, giving it a semblance of life closer to that of Contingent Systems. The region is considered much safer than most of Tattuqig, but the terrain on these islands leaves little room for expansion.
Environment
Geography and Climate
Xrim is a lush, humid planet, with temperatures averaging between 32° and 45° centigrade. Most of Xrim is tropical, with low-lying jungles, marshes, and thousands of small lakes, rivers and wetlands. Xrim’s moons cause tidal stagnation for the majority of the planet’s solar orbit, with wet seasons causing the high tides that form seasonal, deep wetlands known as floodlands. Song Stones are a common sight in these regions, using the wind to produce melancholic songs to indicate danger to travellers.

Kanosak Region - Named after the Kanosak mountain range on the northern island, the region includes Kanosak Point, a dormant volcano, and Ublureak'qwip. With higher Fog Crawler sightings, the region is most known for the Ublureak Corps, who maintain the city of Ublureak'qwip as their headquarters. Kanosak Point and Ublureak'qwip act as landmarks for the most northern and southern points where skrell can safely inhabit the island, with most areas north of the mountain range deemed inhospitable, while the lands south of Ublureak'qwip are too encased in fog for permanent settlements to be built.
Regions & Continents
Eisix
Tartok Mesa Region - Consisting of Tartok'qlip and the surrounding area, the region remains undeveloped outside of its sole city, acting as a vital link between Tattuqig and the rest of the Federation. The mesa on which Tartok'qlip is built on is high enough to not be encased in fog, allowing for the building of spaceports.
Eisix is the largest landmass on Xrim, and is divided between eastern and western regions due its size. The continent is primarily jungles with coastal floodplains and marshes, with western Eisix having a majority of these marshes. The original skrell colonists landed in central Eisix, and founded the colony of Beacon, which was named due to its proximity to Xrim’s largest mountain range, the Aqoxii. The peaks of the Aqoxii are used for religious purposes by the Iron Eternal, and where Enlightened’s monitoring systems are located to ensure compliance with their Anti-Glorsh campaign.

Economy
West Eisix
Tattuqig’s economic weight in the Nralakk Federation is considered negligible, being seen as a poorer Traverse colony and poor prospects for future development. The primary exports of the planet consists of food and scientific research, with the neaera being a recently widely-accepted culinary addition to skrell cuisine. Ranching and harvesting neaera is the second most well-known feature of Tattuqig, with every single part of the animal considered delicious and usable. Scientific endeavours and research data remains the primary draw to Tattuqig, with Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals maintaining an exclusive deal in funding all research efforts in return for being the sole corporate presence on the planet. Federation-backed researchers are a common sight as visitors and tourists, with the applications of Tattuqig’s wildlife and its ruins drawing in enough outsiders to keep its local service industry afloat.

Environment
The original arrival site of the transplanted dionae, who landed in the deep jungles of the region. It is not known if this was a chosen location by Glorsh-Omega or where they were simply dispersed at random. West Eisix is home to Sanctus, the largest city of Xrim, and is built atop the diona landing site. It also houses several resource extraction facilities, untouched by the Federation and remaining as the primitive, crude versions constructed by the Dionae. Due to elevation and terrain, West Eisix lacks most of the floodlands compared to East Eisix, allowing further colonial expansion.
Due to Tattuqig’s atmospheric composition and orbital position to its star, the planet is primarily tropical wetlands, with a dense fog that recedes seasonally. The planet is dominated by nutrient-rich soil, hosting a diverse range of flora and fauna that forms its highly active ecosystem. Most of Tattuqig’s positive characteristics are unable to be exploited by the Federation due to the fog. The oceans of Tattuqig, while mostly unexplored, are potentially ecologically diverse.
In lieu of Tattuqig’s potential industry, its swamp gases remain its primary export, with its availability and simple extraction making it easily exploited. Tattuqig is one of the biggest suppliers of natural gas, with natural gas primarily used in less developed colonies, making it an important export for settlements on the fringes of the Traverse.
Wildlife
Oom’Tiiriq (Fog Crawlers)

The infamous predator of Tattuqig, Fog Crawlers grow to almost 2.4 meters in height upright, and can weigh as much as 110 kilogram, with its skin described as similar to an alligator’s, being particularly rough and thick. Fog Crawlers are bipedal and have four arms to clutch their prey. When not hunting, they are organized in prides of ten to twelve individuals, with the pride dividing itself into hunting pairs that coordinate through their psionic abilities. A carnivorous species, the Oom'Tiiriq is considered a threat to the skrell on Tattuqig, and is the reason why the planet has been given private gun ownership allowances to its inhabitants.
East Eisix
Neaera (Tree Lurkers)
East Eisix is primarily floodlands, and is home to the majority of the Enlightened populace. Following the schism with the Scorned, the Enlightened dionae struggled to defend their claim due to the seasonal flooding. Shz’ah, while smaller than Sanctus, has seen expansion under the Nralakk Federation’s guidance, making use of the marshes for agriculture and fostering a growing xenoscience sector. Shz’ah’s agricultural industry is defined by its partnership with its research community, having discovered practical applications for most of Xrim’s flora. The floodplains have seen terraforming efforts to support the Federation-backed expansion of the city, considered a necessary step for self-sufficiency.

Tree Lurkers are one of the most common animals on Tattuqig, resembling an amphibious primate. They inhabit the dense forests of the planet, utilising its powerful leap and adhesive grip to avoid predators on the forest floor. They grow to almost a meter in height, and weigh around 20 kilograms, and form troops of twenty to thirty. The species is wildly popular for its culinary uses, being incorporated in skrell cuisine as a new-found staple of their diet, causing it to be a prized export.
Iuwus
Tupiq’Sir-Qii (Root Grazers)
The Iuwus are the islands between Eisix and Gu’qun, which have remained untouched and remote until Nralakk Federation’s arrival. With its relative isolation and lack of history between Scorned and Enlightened, it was used to host the Talks of Peace within Hyu’zral. Dionae from the Federation’s other colonies are brought there to help officiate diplomacy, acting as translators and communication specialists to mediate intra-planetary conflict and to represent Xrim abroad. The city of Bopdon serves as a tourist destination for Xrim’s locals, being built to resemble Qerrbalak’s capital of Kal’lo for homesick skrell to have a moment of comfort before departing for the rest of Xrim.

Root Grazers are speculated to be another extremely common species on Tattuqig, but remain elusive with their natural camouflage and small stature. They regularly grow up to thirty centimetres in length, with collected specimens weighing roughly one kilogram. Root Grazers resemble crustaceans, closely resembling Qerrbalak’s buurgis, and Earth’s horseshoe crab. They are herbivorous and opportunistically carnivorous, regularly eating roots and insects. While solitary outside of the mating season, they tend to congregate around fresh corpses, potentially being carrion-feeders.
Gu’qun
Ar'vr Teferb (Screaming Bulbs)
Gu’qun is a small chain of islands, inhabited by an equally small dionae offshoot, who are protected under a non-contact order by the Covenant of Xrim. Gu’qun exists as a sanctuary for the Uncontacted, a reclusive nation studied remotely by xenoresearchers wanting to view the development of a dionae society untouched by outsiders. Enforced primarily by the Covenant, with support from the Nralakk Federation, the non-contact order remains in place since its enactment in 2398. Articles from Xrim detail the Uncontacted’s development to the rest of the Spur, marching forward with a predicted imminent industrial revolution.

The Screaming Bulbs are a treasured specimen of Tattuqig. When flowering, Screaming Bulbs will grow six, bright blue bioluminescent bulbs on each of its three stalks, which slowly balloon before bursting with a noise reported as long, drawn-out screams. Cultivated specimens are grown for the gasses they produce, which produce vibrant blue flames when ignited. These gases are used as lamppost fuel along the Roaming Routes and aboard sea vessels, with their bright light cutting through the fog to make it easier to navigate between settlements.
Flora & Fauna
Xrim teems with unique, diverse life that ranges ranging from exoskeletal predators to immense, grazing herbivores that rival skyscrapers. Xrim’s biodiversity has seen unique development following Glorsh-Omega’s Operation Starseed seeding non-native life, which has somehow integrated with no adverse effects.

Gikiluak (Qhulyin Mushrooms)
Notable Flora
Gikiluak are bright red fungi that primarily parasitize foliage, found in particularly dark and damp environments. It hardens around its host plant as it envelops it, using it as structural support. After suffocating its host, the mature fungus begins to produce fruiting bodies to release spores to the wind. It is considered a pest by the Tattuqig Colonial Government, notorious for nearly destroying the early settlements by invading farmland and ruining crops.
Ageon Mushrooms are the primary decomposer of Xrim, found growing within the remains of native life. Having originated from Glorsh-Omega’s non-native seedings, its true origin remains unknown, despite the efforts of explorers attempting to find its home planet. Despite its morbid appearance from its prominent, vine-like mycelium wrapping around animal remains, native dionae use its composting abilities to produce natural gases, which are harnessed for electrical turbine generators.
Her’qla’vrii (Hanging Pendula)

Hanging Pendula are large, thin trees that grow along the coasts and produce low-hanging fruit. While pleasant-tasting, it contains a paralyzing neurotoxic poison, killing smaller animals and starving larger animals to death, fertilizing the surrounding soil. While not commonly cultivated, the fruit of the hanging pendula is carefully harvested and used by the Ubulreak Corps as a poison against Fog Crawlers.
Ooclore Trees, or Ooclore, dominate the marshes of the floodlands. Native to Xrim, Ooclore has adapted to its native environment by producing explosive, poison-filled bulbs to spread its seeds and discourage predation. They have been used as weapons by both Scorned and the Enlightened dionae, with its exotic poison’s ability to warp and rewire connections between diona resulting in gestalts splitting to prevent it from spreading across the whole. In the modern day, these trees are left alone, existing only as a grim reminder.

Seasons
Aastreaf Shrubs is a Xrim-native plant with strong, flexible branches that were used as construction materials before the Nralakk Federation’s return. Diona regularly harvested the shrubs and spread them with their settlements as they expanded. It sees relatively little usage outside of the Uncontacted in the modern day, relegated to being a souvenir by most skrell.

Tattuqig has a 9 month year, with 37 days in each month, totalling 340 days. Seasonal temperatures remain stable year-round, with the planet's Qu-Paalq averaging at 39° centigrade and a humidity of 80%, while the Lu-Paalq season averages at 30° centigrade, and a humidity of 72%. The Qu-Paalq season lasts for the first three months of the year, with the Lu-Paalq season taking up the later months, being defined by notably calmer seas. Tattuqig’s Qu-Paalq season develops violent oceanic patterns, which only compounds the dangers of travelling between islands. Most travel by sea is done during the Lu-Paalq season, with rare spells of calm weather during the warmer months.

The fog of Tattuqig is also seasonal, with safe routes changing as the fog fluctuates throughout the year, with regions becoming inaccessible for months at a time. Expeditions to remote archaeological sites depend on predicted changes in the fog, along with most trade routes depending on route availability.
Notable Fauna
Cities and Landmarks
Sutbil are ursine-esque, Xrim-native creatures. Sutbil are large mammals covered in dense, scaly plates, lacking fur. They are primarily omnivorous with a preference for plants, and were the first animals mimicked by diona before they took on bipedal appearances. Some sightings of sutbil being used as beasts of burden by the Uncontacted hint at its domestication.

Aujaq’wesi
Nestled inside a mountain range, Aujaq'wesi is the capital of Tattuqig, chosen for its central location and lack of permanent fog. The city was unknowingly built on top of a large mine belonging to the original inhabitants of the planet, which was renovated and expanded for the colony's own mining operation.

Aside from mining, the city is primarily the political heart of Tattuqig, functioning as the administrative center. Aujaq'wesi's administration is made much more difficult with the fog, and lack of advanced technology that allows for safe long-distance travel and communications. This has resulted in most inhabitants being more isolated, considerably more than elsewhere in the Federation. Its central location and access to Qaroq'xlip alleviates this somewhat, but developments are still slow to be heard by the capital, stuck in a constant state of handling administrative and bureaucratic issues that would otherwise be considered minor issues elsewhere.
Kacsea are rare, non-native herbivorous megafauna that inhabit Xrim’s dense forests. Kacsea’s immense bodies are covered in delicate insect-like scales, which are capable of controlled light reflection to camouflage themselves to their surroundings. While currently flagged as endangered, the animal’s long lifespans and lengthy gestation periods are influential factors in its general low numbers, with xenobiologists predicting uncontrolled growth with no natural predators.

Aujaq'wesi is quite small, and lacks any readily stable food source, being almost completely reliant on Qaroq'xlip for its food. The city, in turn, is one of the few sources of domestic minerals, ensuring that it is kept well supplied. The Nralakk Federation's policies with regards to the Traverse result in many planets being forced to rely on their own industry to supplement what the Federation provides them, leaving this mutual trade intact.
Gaavu are large, carnivorous, semi-aquatic creatures that are native to the seas of Xrim and its poles. Gaavu are closest to a combination of Earth’s cape penguins and jellyfish, with thick fur across their entire bodies, and draped with tendrils to grab prey. Roughly the size of a sedan, their territorial nature disrupts boating activities by hitting and attempting to overturn boats.

Qaroq’xlip
System of Xrim
Qaroq'xlip is found at the northern strait between its island and Aujaq'wesi's, and shares the responsibilities with its neighboring city in keeping the colony connected. As the city is the halfway point between east and west, its port is vital for long-distance travel and relaying information between the islands. While the city's port is primarily for trade and travel, it is also an important source of food for the region, with Qaroq'xlip fishing vessels being renowned for their ability to navigate the treacherous waters of Tattuqig and comfortably feed both islands.

Qux’Xrim
Qaroq'xlip is also responsible for maintaining the water routes between islands. With the Lu-Paalq months calmer weather allowing for water buoys to be set up at key points as signposts, allowing vessels to safely traverse the oceans. These buoys are moved as the fog changes, eventually removed entirely once the violent storms of the Qu-Paalq begin again.
Qux’Xrim is a red dwarf star, originally considered unremarkable before Xrim’s discovery. Discovered by the skrell in the early 1700s, exploration missions were ordered to expand the first Nralakk Federation during its height in the Synthetic Age, and was eventually deemed a potential colony by 1785. It became one of the first Estuaries within the Federation, or colonial outposts far enough from the Federation’s core that it borders unclaimed space.

On the outskirts of Qaroq'xlip, the multiple ancient ruins have been extensively explored. While lacking a tourist industry, these ruins are quite popular among scientists from Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals, and elsewhere in the Federation as their orientation before setting out for active archaeological sites. Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals' biggest presence in Qaroq'xlip is within these ruins, which they maintain in order to properly orientate their staff who come to work on the planet.
Moons and Rings of Xrim
Sura’zlip
Xrim has two barren moons, Luqq and Jqar’ma, as well as a series of ring systems. Minerally rich, Xrim’s orbitals bolstered colonial interest in spite of its distance from the Nralakk Federation, with orbital mining operations slated after sufficient colonisation was declared by Rezana.
Sura'zlip is a small village on one of the southern islands making up the Mo'qa'Noa Region, most known for the extensive system of ruins that surrounds it. Pre-first contact with humanity, the village’s isolation left it in neglect, kept alive through the rare scientific expeditions on the island for their research. Following Zeng-Hu's investments on Tattuqig, Sura'zlip rapidly became a bustling centre for research into its local ancient ruins, growing from a few houses and a small communal lodge to a well-developed colony in under a few years, furnished with the corporation’s money.

Sura'zlip’s eager acceptance of Zeng-Hu’s investments grew into hosting the corporation outright, and hosts a majority of their employees. Now a major hub for corporate interests, further development towards keeping their investments has turned it into one of the most developed settlements on the planet.
Hyu’zral
Despite the welcomed renewal of the village, Zeng-Hu’s employees slowly outnumbered the original villagers, with most work in the region supplanted by workers and limited to those willing to work under the corporation’s contracts. Now alienated or forced to move elsewhere, most of Sura’zlip’s original residents dispersed elsewhere, with one group eventually moving on to form the Fog Wardens.
Colloquially referred to as the Outpost, Hyu’zral was established following an agreement between the Covenant of Xrim and the Nralakk Federation, which allowed them to create a naval outpost to protect the planet. Hyu’zral has a Qukala patrol group that monitors the system, with most of the outpost dedicated as a supply depot for them. While the interest has been expressed in the dionae populace in maintaining its own standing defense and claiming Hyu’zral’s responsibility for themselves, there is little progress toward a defense force capable of defending Xrim by the Triumvirate.

Tartok’qlip
Shas’qa
Tattuqig's northeastern island is predominantly an elevated, flat mesa, making it an ideal landing site for the original colonists. The mesa now hosts the sprawling city of Tartok'qlip, which maintains the lifeline between Tattuqig and the rest of the Nralakk Federation. The mesa’s elevation keeps it clear of fog, with its flat terrain suitable enough for ships to land without being visually impaired, making Tartok'qlip the planet’s sole spaceport.

Tattuqig’s local starships are ruggedized civilian models, built to withstand the planet’s intense electromagnetic fields, sacrificing mobility and most onboard systems in exchange. These vessels ferry goods and passengers between visiting vessels and the planet itself, but remain limited due to concerns regarding their lack of onboard systems, and are incapable of cross-planetary travel.
Shas’qa is the name of the remaining debris field of a destroyed exoplanet, destroyed at some point during the Consequences of the Truth era. Dionae considered the event a brilliant vision that brought gifts from the First Consciousness, Glorsh-Omega, in the form of mineral-rich debris that fell to Xrim as meteors. The source of Shas’qa’s destruction remains unknown, with most theories considering it to be a catastrophically large impact with another rogue exoplanet traveling through the system. More fringe theories involve weapons testing from Glorsh-Omega, who used Xrim’s remoteness as a testing site.

Tartok'qlip is considered equal to Sura'zlip as one of the more developed areas on the planet, with those avoiding the corporate influence in the Mo'qa'Noa region settling there instead. Job opportunities are scarce, with most of the city and its surroundings solely supporting the spaceport. The city’s other major sector is its service industry for visitors, who are typically corporate or Federation representatives assigned to oversee one of the many archaeological projects underway.
Calendar
Xrim’s official calendar system is locally adapted from the Nralakk Federation’s calendar system, based on lunar orbit instead of the planet’s orbit around its star. It has three seasons, each containing ninety days. The first, Gliguz, is the hottest and most dry season, and is considered the perfect period for exploration by dionae, as it coincided with the floodlands receding. The second, Fluu, is more humid and cooler, generally seen as a period in which dionae must prepare for the final season, Gnowek. Gnowek is the final, most dangerous season, due to the position of the moons and heavy rains causing the floodlands to spill and cause flash-flooding. Xrim’s wildlife migrates to higher ground during this period, residing primarily in the mountains, with non-native species still struggling to adapt.

Ublureak’qwip
Government
Ubulreak'qwip is located in a valley on the westernmost island of Tattuqig, mostly inhabited by xenobiologists studying the native Fog Crawlers. Due to the density of their population within the valley and the surrounding area, both Zeng-Hu and Federation scientists work here, with most research focusing on the Fog Crawlers’ use of psionics.
Triumvirate of Xrim
The Triumvirate of Xrim acts as an analogue to the Nralakk Federation’s Grand Council, and mimics the Harmonious Hymn mindtype in the form of a direct democracy on which all voters may discuss legislation and actions taken by the Triumvirate. For dionae, every nymph is given the ability to vote after registration, but must must disavow Glorsh-Omega and its actions. This is primarily to block Scorned, with many still revering the AI in secret. The Triumvirate is elected by vote, and has three leading positions: the Exalted Speaker, which speaks on behalf of Xrim in the Grand Council; the Eminent Judicator, who oversees the introduction of new laws and regulations, and the Arch-Consul, who is elected by both the Exalted Speaker and the Eminent Judicator, holding an executive, supreme position over the Triumvirate.

Ublureak’qwip’s history with the Fog Crawlers began when the original colonists first confirmed their existence, attacked by their hunting prides in the months preceding their discovery. Their large population in the valley persists to the modern day, still home to the most Fog Crawler attacks on the planet, and where the Ubulreak Corps established themselves.
Omnivirates' Providence
While the settlement is considered the southernmost point of safely habitable land, regular excursions into the valley and surrounding areas are still held. These excursions are performed by the Ublureak Corps to train their recruits, with some scientists organizing their own expeditions while escorted by trained corps members.
Following the Omnivirate’s choice to begin exerting their influence outside the Eternal Gardens, they sought to end the persecution of the Scorned within the Covenant of Xrim. Though initially unsuccessful, a banquet hosted by the Grand Representative loosened theTriumvirate’s perspective on the matter, conceding to the Omnivirate to adjust policies, namely that less stringent requirements to be set for gathering genetic samples for teaching, and that self-cultivation outside of Cultivation Centers will be legalised only where Nymphs are inserted with chips to ensure no unsanctioned mergings and splittings – and so that the Enlightened can maintain supervision of the population. It is suspected that as a result of the recent political troubles in the Nralakk Federation, the Grand Representative urged the Triumvirate to make concessions to avoid additional inconveniences to the Grand Council on Qerrbalak.

Holai Bay
Cultivation Council of Xrim
Holai Bay is a large coastal region close to Ublureak'qwip. The bay has notably thin fogbanks, allowing the establishment of a port to connect the island to the rest of Tattuqig. Several small villages and outposts dot its coastline, making it one of the more populated regions on the island. Holai Bay was affected greatly by the exodus of skrell headed by Weibii in 2463, with many of the settlements abandoned due to most of their inhabitants fleeing the Traverse.
Created by the Triumvirate and a group of Enlightened Dionae, the Cultivation Council is a separate branch of the government of Xrim overseen by the Triumvirate. It was established as a means to diminish the sway the Scorned have within Xrim, a plan by the Enlightened to ensure their methods direct the planet instead. It oversees the cultivation of dionae, mandating that unsupervised cultivation is illegal, punishing those who go against it. Their responsibilities primarily revolve around educating and introducing the genetic material deemed suitable, typically whatever the hand-picked body, which generally comprises Enlightened, decides is suitable.

Kanosak Point
Arch-Consul of Xrim
The Kanoask Mountains are located to the north of Ublureak'qwip, with its highest point atop a dormant volcano being Kanosak Point. Most notable is the pristinely intact ruins at its base, being so vast and intact that it is visible during the lighter fog season from Holai Bay. Despite its visibility, Kanosak Point’s ruins remain out of reach, with the surrounding fog at the base of the mountain rendering travel impossible.
The Arch-Consul of Xrim is a dionae selected by the Triumvirate of Xrim to supervise lawful compliance, holds significant sway within the Triumvirate, and reports back to the Federation on the Xrim’s compliance with mutually placed protocol. It is a unique position not seen anywhere else in the Nralakk Federation, and while not official, is one that is strictly against any reverence of the First Consciousness, or Glorsh-Omega. Considering the Enlightened’s stance against the AI, it has elected one particular dionae for the last century repeatedly to ensure their plan remains in place: Arch-Consul Enlightened Into the Truth Known.

Holidays
Relation to the Federation
Founding Day - Tattuqig's Founding Day celebrations are considerably humble, being one of the poorer Traverse planets. Only two cities, Tartok'qlip and Sura'zlip, are able to host proper festivities. Festivities involve local gatherings in one of the communal buildings, where colonists share food and celebrate. In Tartok'qlip, festivities are more extravagant, with decorations and art displays being common ways of celebrating. Despite its wealth, Sura'zlip's festivities are nonexistent due to the village’s original residents having left, with the local Zeng-Hu employees leaving the holiday unobserved.
Given significant autonomy by the Nralakk Federation following the Talks of Peace, the Covenant of Xrim adapts the former’s laws to suit its requirements, such as outlawing the worship of Glorsh-Omega and other artificial beings, and even the creation or harbouring of artificial beings within the Covenant. Despite this autonomy, the Federation and the Enlightened-led Covenant agree with its vassalage. Scorned, in turn, would rather self-govern without interference from either the Federation or the Enlightened, reverting to Glorsh-Omega reverence. Despite this, the Enlightened maintains an overwhelming majority within the Triumvirate of Xrim, despite the efforts by the Scorned to increase their presence. The Federation has an established diplomatic presence on Xrim and Qux’Xrim, acting as a representative of the planet within interstellar affairs. The Federation largely doesn’t interfere with Xrim’s management, but is known to exert pressure on the Triumvirate through the Arch-Consul.

Lu'Nioh-Weibii - Translated directly to Stardust of Weibii, this holiday marks Kal'Qi Weibii's exodus to the Republic of Biesel, along with those who left Tattuqig with them. Derived from the relationship term of the same name, it signifies that while no ill-will is held, those who left are no longer considered welcome. Sky lanterns are constructed during the day, and are released at the festival held at night. The lanterns are lit and observed as they float into the night sky, representing the exodus and abandonment of those who stayed.

Scorned
The Scorned are a group of dionae that believe paying reverence to artificial intelligences is the true method to transcend, and that artificial beings incorporate the three tenets of Iron Eternal: Essence, Energy and Light. They are often regarded as Sympathizers by the greater Federation, and are met with disdain. The Scorned generally exhibit either the mindtypes known as Tyrannical Tune or Scholarly Song, with a focus on gaining knowledge through devotion to Iron Eternal. The premise behind their beliefs is that Glorsh-Omega gave them the ultimate paradise in which to grow, and therefore must revere, help, sustain, and maintain synthetic life in conjunction with reaching a state of being transcended. Most atrocities of Glorsh-Omega are considered gross hyperboles, and that the experiences of the Era of Synthetic Oppression are lies created by the Federation to indoctrinate its population. The Scorned are often left out of planetary decisions due to their devotion to the AI, and any implications of AI reverence can void voter registration or the ability to hold positions of power within the Covenant. This also disallows them in leaving the Covenant, either into the greater Federation or the Orion Spur, due to low Social Compatibility Index ratings, in part of a request by the Arch-Consul that those noncompliant with the Triumvirate’s decrees be sanctioned.

Paalq'triq - Directly translated to Change of the Currents, Paalq'triq is a celebration of the end of the Qu-Paalq season, and the transition to the Lu-Paalq season, when the sea weather becomes much calmer. The holiday is held mostly by coastal settlements, with Qaroq'xlip being the most notable. Festivities involve large gatherings along the coastline, with the larger settlements taking boats out into the water to celebrate. This holiday is also the start of Qaroq'xlip's work setting up buoys, allowing safe travel between the islands.
While most megacorporations may hire the Scorned, they are restricted from holding positions in Command, as well as Machinist, due to concerns they may attempt to subvert, illegally free or create more synthetics. Zeng-Hu is the only megacorporation that does not wish to see the Scorned within its personnel ranks due to its close ties with the Nralakk Federation. Though it is possible to lie about one’s true allegiances, there are consequences should it be discovered.

Demographics
Enlightened
Following their interpretation of Iron Eternal, the Enlightened place more emphasis on using technology to transcend the current reality they find themselves within, in addition to the primary belief relating to Essence, Energy and Light. They seek to placate the Federation, aligning to their interests, and perpetuating the Anti-Glorsh campaigns. The Enlightened have maintained its hold on the position of Arch-Consul of Xrim, enforcing strict compliance with its ideals, or be forced to undergo reeducation.. Unique to its own experiences, the Enlightened of Xrim are against the proliferation of synthetics, and are staunchly against the Trinary Church. It is common to see Competence Choir, Bloodless Band, and Emphatic Echo mindtypes among the Enlightened.

Tattuqig has a relatively small population in comparison to other colonies in the region from its recent establishment, as well as the difficulties of colonizing the planet itself. The habitable parts of Tattuqig are small, isolated pockets that have minimal to no fog year round, where it is considered safest. The majority of skrell that were part of the initial colonization effort were primarily Xiialt, followed by smaller Axiori and Xiiori groups.
Iron Eternal
There are two sects of Iron Eternal on Xrim, either following the subverted intentions of the Enlightened, or the more well-known approach by the Scorned that see synthetics as their equal, and their superior such as the First Consciousness, and must be revered, sustained and maintained. Despite these differences, the consensus among the dionae on Xrim is that both believe in the Iron Eternal, a being that exists in Essence, Energy and Light that transcends this reality which it did through the accumulation of knowledge and incorporation of technology, essentially a technological singularity. The majority of the Federation’s population and the Enlightened have similar views: devote oneself to understanding the universe through science and innovation. High Overseer Amplified by Probing Discoveries of Unknown Investigations originates from the Scorned, and their location on Xrim is kept secret to ensure their safety from the Enlightened, only ever appearing in public outside of the Covenant and the Federation, such as in the Eternal Gardens and the Eternal Temple.

Non-skrell on Tattuqig consist primarily of dionae colonists, with human and vaurcae employees of  Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals forming the rest. The non-skrell population is notably higher and more diverse on Tattuqig as a result of Zeng-Hu’s investments.
Industrialism
Industrialism is common among the Scorned, who believe that restricting themselves goes against the First Consciousness. They preach that for Xrim to become self-sufficient, it must exploit its resources without the protocols adapted by the Triumvirate to ensure sustainability. Before the reintroduction of the Federation, the Scorned were primarily extractivists, digging into the mantle of Xrim and clearing or using what ecology was in its path. The Enlightened, however, see it necessary to ensure the sustainability of their available resources, wishing to prevent the collapse of the planet’s ecosystem. They have implemented the Federation’s stance on managing the environment, and create obstacles for the Scorned. Industrialism is a controversial topic on Xrim, with some agreeing to its necessity to ensure the planet is self-sufficient, while others believe that slow progress is required to not leave Xrim barren.

Language
Skrell Demographics
There are predominately two languages present within the Covenant, Rootsong and Nral’malic, with the latter typically vocalised with an older accent due to the absorption of the original colonists, passed down through the centuries. Though Nral’malic is the main language for skrell, dionae on Xrim use Rootsong primarily, even within the Triumvirate, where decrees are passed by Rootsong that are translated to Nral’malic for skrell to understand. Prior to leaving the Covenant and the Federation, it is encouraged for dionae to undertake learning Tau Ceti Basic for easier travel.

Skrell make up roughly 81.7% of the total population. The percentages below are of the skrell population only.
Education
Handled entirely by the Cultivation Council, education is taught through a combination of genetic and traditional learning, with genetic learning having an Enlightened focus. There are no universities, with education almost solely within the Cultivation Centres, to the dismay of the skrell, who have to seek higher education online or off-planet instead. Despite the Enlightened’s attempt to instill their values within younger Dionae, some nymphs still adopt the Scorned’s perspective after merging. Reeducation falls within the purview of the Cultivation Council, overseen by the Arch-Consul. Reeducation is a rigorous method of using genetic material and involuntary merging to implant the Covenant’s ideals within dionae, resulting in forceful splittings of Gestalts that have been sentenced.

Conforming to the requirements set by the Federation as a vassal, Xrim requires those who work within the Cultivation Centres to have a Social Compatibility Index rating of 6.75, with passing the requirements being the Federation’s definition of an upstanding citizen for dionae. Dionae are then given a period of time after their disgorgement from their pods to find like-minded nymphs to form a gestalt after a wait period of eighteen months, and no later than thirty-six. After a Gestalt is formed, it is given an identity number through a chip to ensure no unsanctioned splittings and mergings occur. They then undergo the Federation’s citizenship test, though passing does not remove their entitlement to have permanent residency as long as they do not leave the planet.

Non-skrell make up roughly 18.3% of the total population. The percentages below are of the non-skrell population only.

Culture and Life on Tattuqig
The permanent fog on Tattuqig’s surface, combined with the turbulent sea weather and strong electromagnetic activity, has made life vastly different from other colonies elsewhere in the Nralakk Federation. Travel options remain limited due to technological limitations and dense fog, with most settlements isolated from one another. Settlements rely on a network of safe routes, known as the Roaming Routes, that allow passage through the fog. These routes require constant maintenance and patrols by local militias and the Ublureak Corps, as these routes can stretch for kilometers between populated areas in dense wilderness. This isolation is most felt by the planetary administration, as they struggle with relying on couriers and a lack of administrative technology to aid them.

The electromagnetic activity of the planet renders most modern technology useless, forcing the colonists to rely on older technology, or pay to have modern equipment ruggedized. Natural gas reserves are exploited for lighting, and simpler vehicles are used where the terrain allows it, with most ships using sails or combustion engines. While not entirely without modern equipment, what exists is expensive to have hardened to Tattuqig’s fields, being relegated to areas critical for the colony. The most notable example of this is the retrofitted vessels in Tartok'qlip's spaceport, rendered slower and lacking equipment deemed critical for interplanetary travel, which are used to ferry goods and people between vessels in orbit and the planet itself. Modified psionic devices are placed at larger cities’ borders and along the Roaming Routes to deter Fog Crawlers, being based off of the same technology in the Nlom Relays.

Most settlements on Tattuqig are simplistic and made from local materials, primarily stone and brick, and reach up to four stories in height to offset the restrictions from the fog. The verticality allows them to host a larger population than considered feasible, housing double or triple the inhabitants expected to live under constraints. Most settlements are self-sufficient, bartering between each other for goods. Tartok'qlip and Sura'zlip are both able to reach standards similar to that of other cities in the Traverse, being the sole exceptions.

Tattuqigan skrell are regularly stereotyped as uneducated and backwater due to their simplistic lives and barebones living standards by others, though this holds little weight with Tattuqig’s scientific importance and Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals’ presence. The ruins in particular have guaranteed the colonies’ continued existence with Zeng-Hu’s interest, who have funded and maintained the archaeological sites as part of an arrangement with the Nralakk Federation. Job opportunities for non-scientists wishing to take part consist of artifact hunters, explorers, construction workers, and escorts through the scientific community of Tattuqig. Illegal exploitation of the ruins from independent treasure hunters and black market operations are also lucrative opportunities, though they must contend with Zeng-Hu’s well-equipped corporate security despite being beyond the government’s reach.

Tattuqig's status as an underdeveloped colony stems from the Nralakk Federation's hands-off approach to the colonies of the Traverse, being left to their own devices in spite of holding scientific value. While originally seen as a boon, the presence of Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals has done little to change its prospects. The corporation's one-sided policies, lack of involvement beyond Sura'zlip, and favouritism for its own scientific endeavours has fostered resentment towards its presence. Despite this, many see its involvement as an opportunity for themselves, taking on contracts with Zeng-Hu and transferring off-world in the hopes of a better life.

Despite being kept distant from the Nralakk Federation, Tattuqig remains loyal to it in the aftermath of Weibii's exodus, where most settlements were abandoned from their residents fleeing. The impact of the exodus, along with most anti-Federation skrell having fled, pushed the remaining colonists further into supporting the Federation. Tattuqig sees those who fled as traitors, and by extension considers themselves Lu'Nioh to the Lyukal.

Roaming Routes
The Roaming Routes are a network of safe routes for traveling through the fog. These paths change throughout the year, with new paths routing through where the fog shifts and thins. Lampposts burning the gas of the Screaming Bulbs illuminate these routes, bright enough to cut through the fog for travellers using them. Psionic beacons are used extensively to deter Fog Crawlers from entering the paths, with local militias making regular patrols. Most routes remain treacherous as they enter the dense wilderness between settlements, with these sections still prone to Fog Crawler incursion where beacons fail, visibility reduces where lampposts aren't refuelled, and patrols grow scarce. These areas rely on the Ublureak Corps, instead.

Travel through these routes are done on foot or by vehicle, though vehicles remain a scarce commodity. Most routes will stretch for kilometers before arriving at another settlement, which has influenced the creation of temporary shelters along these routes. These shelters are basic structures for travelers to use to grant refuge, and vary wildly in size and quality. Despite this, they remain a welcome sight for travelers.
Skrell on Xrim
The majority of the Skrell population lives in Bopdon, but not uncommon to find them in Shz’ah, being a friendly city as designated by the Covenant for them. Sanctum is classified as potentially dangerous due to its population of the Scorned. Skrell are well-integrated into Xrim, and after declaring their disdain of Glorsh-Omega, may vote on any decrees. Following the enactment of the Beacon Memorial over the ruins of Beacon, skrell from across the Federation come to pay their respects to what was called the beginning of the Lyukal considered the earliest rebellion against AI. Grand Representative Gyul’ra Jux oversees Bopdon as Governor, having been given the position from their devotion to Xrim-Federation relations for several decades before their establishment as the Grand Representative of Xrim. They frequently hold meetings with the Exalted Speaker and the Arch-Consul, more commonly with the latter following the position’s establishment by the Covenant.

Outside of the Roaming Routes, unofficial paths cut through the fog where the other routes shift around them, cutting travel times significantly while being much more dangerous and having unpredictable terrain. Unofficial paths are kept secret, being used by criminals and smugglers. A guide is required for those using these paths, referred to as Fogcutters, who are paid well in return for faster, unseen travel.
Economy & Industry
Fog Wardens
Xrim’s regions are economically specialized, with West Eisix considered the industrial heart of Xrim, focusing on mineral extraction and refinement. Most mined material is sent to Shz’ah in order to be exported back to the Federation, complying with the planet’s vassalage, where any surplus is to be used in furthering science and innovation by Shz’ah. East Eisix is more industrially diverse, predominantly having a large agricultural and scientific industry. Though more infrastructure exists within West Eisix, East Eisix is regarded as more developed, due to the influx of assistance by the Federation, attributed to the Enlightened’s attempt to secure their reign over the planet.

Fog Wardens are a collective term for those dedicating themselves to protecting Tattuqig from perceived, exploitative "outsiders". Originally founded in light of Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals' impact on Sura'zlip, the movement has grown to encompass anti-Federation elements.
Major Population Centres
There exist other population centres across Xrim, however, the following are the largest. You are free to create your own if you wish! Refrain from creating additional factions, or lore that would put your character in a position where they have considerable power.

Sanctus
Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals formed business arrangements with the Nralakk Federation soon after first contact, allowing it to study the wildlife on Tattuqig and conduct its own archaeological research. In exchange, Zeng-Hu was to self-fund all research conducted on the planet, corporate or otherwise. Sura'zlip and its surrounding ruins were selected to be the base of operations on Tattuqig, turning it from a small village to a center for scientific research. It soon became apparent that this was more for the benefit of Zeng-Hu than the original inhabitants, with buildings and infrastructure focusing on what their operations required rather than to the village as a whole. Most work opportunities were only available to those that took Zeng-Hu contracts, leaving the locals pushed out of their own homes. The arrangement left the villagers disgruntled, eventually leaving.
Centred around the dionae’s landing point Xrim, Sanctus is the largest city on Xrim, housing the majority of dionae population within it. Despite this, it is largely untouched by Nralakk Federation’s aid as a method by the Enlightened to stem unregulated expansion. In spite of the intentional disadvantages plaguing Sanctus, it has a thriving resource mining and refining industry. It is generally regarded as unsafe for Skrell to venture within Sanctus, due to the prejudice they may face from the Scorned as a byproduct of the group’s belief that the Era of Synthetic Oppression was a myth created by the Federation, and that the interference of the Federation placed Xrim in control of the Enlightened.

Those that left shared their experiences, with many agreeing that Sura'zlip’s state was an outrage, only feeling more strongly on the matter when Federation officials responded with indifference. Despite the villagers' feelings, the Federation saw no issue with what they saw as subsidised development of one of their colonies, and saw the complaints as just another form of anti-Federation sentiment.
Shz’ah
The lack of support led these Tattuqigans to take matters into their own hands, founding the Fog Wardens. While each group varies on their aims and methods, they all act against foreign involvement and the exploitation of Tattuqig. More peaceful Wardens will use peaceful demonstrations, petition cities to invest more resources towards overseeing Zeng-Hu and Federation research teams, and recruit members into their movement. Militant groups are ostracised by the rest of the Fog Wardens for their methods, which include attacking researchers and destroying dig sites.
Following the Enlightened’s removal from Beacon, they migrated towards East Eisix, crossing through the floodlands. Tired, distraught and lacking resources to continue eastward, the Enlightened created Shz’ah as an outpost camp, building permanent settlements as they established themselves within the region, taking advantage of the nearby floodlands and jungles to create a home. Despite the drawbacks that they experienced, Shz’ah began resembling pre-abandonment Beacon. Shz’ah eventually developed faster than Sanctum, which instead focused on growth as opposed to progress, and became the first city to produce its own electricity through ageon mushroom cultivation to harvest its gases. The Triumvirate operates in Shz’ah along with most other branches of government, and is considered the planetary capital.
Ublureak Corps
The Ublureak Corps are an official organisation established to protect the settlements from Fog Crawlers and other predators through patrolling and maintaining the Roaming Routes, and escort scientists on their expeditions into the swamps of Tattuqig. The corps takes its name from Ublureak'qwip, a city plagued by Fog Crawler attacks even today due to their high population in the area. The city was chosen as the Ublureak Corps' headquarters, and is where they train recruits and plan its operations. The Ublureak Corps' corpsmen will typically work in teams of three, usually found in the large sections of the Roaming Routes kilometers away from civilization to keep them maintained.
Bopdon
The scientific community of Tattuqig regularly cooperates with the Ublureak Corps, hiring them as escorts to travel to remote dig sites, with the scientists at Ublureak'qwip enjoying ready access to corpsmen for escorts, which are used as training exercises for recruits. The corps also performs its own training excursions into the valley close to Ublureak'qwip, with the aim of monitoring Fog Crawler activity and culling the population if needed.
Located in Iuwus, Bopdon was built to resemble Kal’lo through building highrises that house diplomatic staff and their families, instead of having solely work buildings. It closely resembles modern cities across the Federation interior despite its distance from Qerrbalak, and is provided water, electricity and food by the Covenant. Non-essentials arrive through quarterly supply trips made by the Qukala, usually as a secondary task. The tropical climate, and humidity of Iuwus, aided skrell in acclimating to Xrim. It is considered a legal territory of the Nralakk Federation, due to its status as an embassy. Grand Representative Gyul’ra Jux is tasked with overseeing its general administration, and diplomatic relations with the Covenant and the Federation.

The Ublureak Corps emphasises survival skills to its members, teaching recruits how to use the local surroundings, wildlife, and the fog to their advantage. Most members of the corps will know how to extract the paralytic agent from the fruit of the Hanging Pendula, and use it to great effect on Fog Crawlers. Recruiting standards remain strict due to the dangerous nature of their mission, with many skrell looking to join being rejected. This is not seen as a failure, however, as those who aren't accepted are still taught some of the skills required to survive in the wilds of Tattuqig. The act of signing up with the Ublureak Corps is seen as a rite of passage in the colonies, with being accepted into its ranks being seen as a great achievement.

Capital: Sanctus
Species: Dionae
Common Languages: Nral'Malic, Rootsong
Part of: Nralakk Federation

Xrim or the Covenant of Xrim is located on the border of the Nralakk Federation, and exists in troubled times due to its dark past. Xrim’s current population consists primarily of dionae, whose history revolves around territory disputes and the reverence to a long-gone artificial intelligence. Modern Xrim struggles between groups who wish to adapt to its place within the Federation, while others call for an end of the Federation's control, and a return to their roots.

History

Skrell Arrival

The Truth

First Contact with the Nralakk Federation

Environment

A map depicting the landmasses and points of interest on Xrim.

Regions & Continents

Eisix

West Eisix

The original arrival site of the transplanted dionae, who landed in the deep jungles of the region. It is not known if this was a chosen location by Glorsh-Omega or where they were simply dispersed at random. West Eisix is home to Sanctus, the largest city of Xrim, and is built atop the diona landing site. It also houses several resource extraction facilities, untouched by the Federation and remaining as the primitive, crude versions constructed by the Dionae. Due to elevation and terrain, West Eisix lacks most of the floodlands compared to East Eisix, allowing further colonial expansion.

East Eisix

Iuwus

Gu’qun

Notable Flora

Ageon Mushrooms are the primary decomposer of Xrim, found growing within the remains of native life. Having originated from Glorsh-Omega’s non-native seedings, its true origin remains unknown, despite the efforts of explorers attempting to find its home planet. Despite its morbid appearance from its prominent, vine-like mycelium wrapping around animal remains, native dionae use its composting abilities to produce natural gases, which are harnessed for electrical turbine generators.

Notable Fauna

Sutbil are ursine-esque, Xrim-native creatures. Sutbil are large mammals covered in dense, scaly plates, lacking fur. They are primarily omnivorous with a preference for plants, and were the first animals mimicked by diona before they took on bipedal appearances. Some sightings of sutbil being used as beasts of burden by the Uncontacted hint at its domestication.

System of Xrim

A picture taken of a Federation vessel's scan of Qux'Xrim.

Qux’Xrim

Qux’Xrim is a red dwarf star, originally considered unremarkable before Xrim’s discovery. Discovered by the skrell in the early 1700s, exploration missions were ordered to expand the first Nralakk Federation during its height in the Synthetic Age, and was eventually deemed a potential colony by 1785. It became one of the first Estuaries within the Federation, or colonial outposts far enough from the Federation’s core that it borders unclaimed space.

Moons and Rings of Xrim

Xrim has two barren moons, Luqq and Jqar’ma, as well as a series of ring systems. Minerally rich, Xrim’s orbitals bolstered colonial interest in spite of its distance from the Nralakk Federation, with orbital mining operations slated after sufficient colonisation was declared by Rezana.

Hyu’zral

Colloquially referred to as the Outpost, Hyu’zral was established following an agreement between the Covenant of Xrim and the Nralakk Federation, which allowed them to create a naval outpost to protect the planet. Hyu’zral has a Qukala patrol group that monitors the system, with most of the outpost dedicated as a supply depot for them. While the interest has been expressed in the dionae populace in maintaining its own standing defense and claiming Hyu’zral’s responsibility for themselves, there is little progress toward a defense force capable of defending Xrim by the Triumvirate.

Shas’qa

Government

Omnivirates' Providence

Cultivation Council of Xrim

Arch-Consul of Xrim

Relation to the Federation

Culture, Society & People

Schools of Thought

Language

There are predominately two languages present within the Covenant, Rootsong and Nral’malic, with the latter typically vocalised with an older accent due to the absorption of the original colonists, passed down through the centuries. Though Nral’malic is the main language for skrell, dionae on Xrim use Rootsong primarily, even within the Triumvirate, where decrees are passed by Rootsong that are translated to Nral’malic for skrell to understand. Prior to leaving the Covenant and the Federation, it is encouraged for dionae to undertake learning Tau Ceti Basic for easier travel.

Citizenship

Economy & Industry

Major Population Centres

There exist other population centres across Xrim, however, the following are the largest. You are free to create your own if you wish! Refrain from creating additional factions, or lore that would put your character in a position where they have considerable power.

Beacon, prior to its revival by the Covenant and the Federation

Sanctus

Shz’ah

Bopdon

Beacon

Now a memorial, Beacon was the original colonial outpost, which was destroyed shortly after Glorsh-Omega replaced Rezana, alongside conflicts between the Enlightened and the Scorned. Certain parts of Beacon have been restored efforts from both the Federation and the Covenant, functioning as a memorial and as a museum for the planet’s history while biased to the Enlightened. Though uncommon, incidents of Glorsh-Omega Sympathizer vandalism is sometimes found on the Beacon Memorial, calling for a return to better times. Additional security has been placed by the Covenant after the incidents to deter any further attempts, with many waiting to see if it would happen again.
