This is a brief guide on how the Law works in different parts of the galaxy.
Note: Nanotrasen has NOT signed onto this convention. Our station regulations are the regulations Biesel mandates NT enforce in Biesel space.
Luna Convention of Galactic Law
- Declares capital punishment a violation of sentient rights.
- Outlaws torture or 'revenge' attacks on captured hostiles after armed conflict.
- Forbids hindrance of humanitarian or medical workers.
- Forbids cruel or excessive punishment of criminals.
- Guarantees all sentients the rights to: Water, food, medical care, and protection of civilians from armed conflict.
Republic of Biesel
- You are entitled to a lawyer.
- Capital punishment is not legal.
- Cyborgification is not considered capital punishment.
- You do have the rights of privacy; police need a warrant to search you.
- You do not need to be told your rights when being arrested.
- You do need to be informed of your charges when arrested.
- You are entitled to a tribunal for major crimes; with a public or personal defender.
- Mega-corporations are expected to follow Biesel laws when in Tau Ceti space.
- Biesel is a signatory of the Luna Convention of Galactic Law.
- Alcohol, Tobacco, Mercury Mono lithium Sucrose (space drugs), Psilocybin, Ambrosia Deus, Ambrosia Vulgaris, and Reshi are are all legal for possession and distribution.
On Capital Punishment And Major Crimes in Biesel
Capital punishment is illegal, but Biesel does not consider borging as a form of execution despite the Luna Convention of Galactic Law. Borgification is considered an alternative to life imprisonment.
The Sol Alliance

- Cyborgification is considered capital punishment.
- You do have the rights of privacy; police need a warrant to search you.
- You do not need to be told your rights when being arrested.
- You do need to be informed of your charges when arrested.
- You are not entitled to a tribunal for major crimes; with a public or personal defender. This is instead handled by a Trial by Magistrate.
- Mega-corporations are expected to follow local laws when in Alliance space.
- The Alliance is a signatory of the Luna Convention of Galactic Law.
On Capital Punishment And Major Crimes in the Sol Alliance
Capital punishment is legal, and regularly executes 714 people every year on average; all of them major felons. This is despite being a signatory of the Luna Convention of Galactic Law.
Izweski Hegemony
- You are not given lawyer.
- Capital punishment is legal.
- Cyborgification is considered a fate worse than death and is illegal.
- Authorities do not need warrants to search or arrest you.
- You do not need to be told your rights when being arrested.
- You do not need to be informed of your charges when arrested.
- You are not entitled to a tribunal for major crimes; with a public or personal defender. You make your case before the relevant Lord of the land you committed the crime on.
- Mega-corporations are expected to follow local laws when in Hegemony space.
- The Hegemony is not a signatory of the Luna Convention of Galactic Law.
People's Republic of Adhomai
- You are given a lawyer.
- Capital punishment is legal.
- Cyborgification is considered capital punishment, but is rarely done by lack of ability.
- Authorities do need warrants to search or arrest you.
- You do not need to be told your rights when being arrested.
- You do not need to be informed of your charges when arrested.
- You are entitled to a trial for your crimes, presided by a judge and against a jury of your peers.
- Mega-corporations are expected to follow local laws when in People's Republic of Adhomai space.
- The People's Republic is not a signatory of the Luna Convention of Galactic Law.
Democratic People's Republic of Adhomai
- You are given a lawyer.

New Kingdom of Adhomai

On Religious Crimes
Alongside standard law sits the religious law of the Tribunal. The religious laws overrule that of the standard law and though most punishments are in the form of heavy fines or corporal punishment all can lead to captial punishment - death by firing squad. Any religious law/edict breaker is judged by a panel of randomly selected local clergy of the rank Priest or higher.
The Eridani Corporate Federation
As a special member of the Sol Alliance the Eridani Corporate Federation laws largly mimic those of SolGov with a few caveats.

- Cyborgification is considered capital punishment.
- You do have the rights of privacy; police need a warrant to search you however warrants based on "suspected sabotage of corporate interests" or "suspected violation of the Non Aggression Protocol" are extremely easy to obtain.
- You do not need to be told your rights when being arrested.
- You do need to be informed of your charges when arrested.
- You are not entitled to a tribunal for major crimes; with a public or personal defender. This is instead handled by a Trial by Magistrate.
- Mega-corporations are not expected to follow local laws when in Eridani Corporate Federation space.
- The Eridani Corporate Federation is a signatory of the Luna Convention of Galactic Law.
The Non Aggression Protocol
The Non Aggression Protocol is considered sacrosanct within the Eridani Corporate Federation and though complex legally, can largely be reduced to the idea that no one within Eridani space should conspire to damage, take part in damaging or incite others to damage corporate interests within Eridani space. Punishments vary from fines to capital punishment. Though oft times a divided people, most Eridanians enshrine the protocol and place great importance on it, though many Eridanians would debate what constitutes a "corporate interest" and "damage(s)".
