LORE NOTE: The Solarian Alliance is currently ruled by a military junta and this page should not be considered relevant to its current political scene.

Major Parties

The Alliance's government is divided between four parties, the Human Unity Party, the Sol First Party, the Reform Party, and the System Freedom Party.

Military Policy

1.) The Human Unity Party advocates for expansion of naval funding, as well as sweeping reforms of command and control of the military to streamline operations and ensure civilian control.
2.) The Sol First pushes legislation similar to the Human Unity Party, albeit with a larger focus on anti-piracy measures and policing operations.
3.) The Reform Party wants to shrink the military budget, believing it is inflated by waste and corruption, and that a more efficient military is needed.
4.) The System Freedom Party wants individual sectors to fund their own protection, as well as shrinking the military as a whole to save on expenditure.

Foreign Policy

1.) The Human Unity Party firmly advocates that all human inhabited space is rightfully Solarian, and that all humans must be united under one government.
2.) The Sol First Party pursues a hearts and mind foreign policy, to draw any pro-Solarian systems peacefully into the Alliance.
3.) The Reform Party thinks that the Alliance itself must be reformed before any expansion is considered, and that positive relations should be pursued where possible.
4.) The System Freedom Party believes the Alliance should extend federation to any willing systems in inhabited space.

Economic Policy

1.) The Human Unity Party pursues protectionist policy seeking to decrease Alliance dependence on imports from foreign suppliers, especially in the Coalition.
2.) The Sol First Party has pushed legislation that would increase funding to small businesses, charity, and infrastructure, aiming to increase economic mobility throughout the Alliance.
3.) The Reform Party desires reform of the social safety net, in order to reduce the massive cost overruns and corruption it has seen in past decades.
4.) The System Freedom Party advocates that economic and social policy should be left to individual planets and systems rather than following an overarching plan.

System Autonomy

1.) The Human Unity Party follows past SolGov policy, arguing for an increase in governmental authority across the Alliance, though the party has also been promoting equal and fair representation for all systems.
2.) The Sol First Party takes a neutral position, that outer systems require more individual authority, as the efficiency of Unity Station control decreases with distance from Earth.
3.) The Reform Party position is that Unity Station bureaucracy that governs the Alliance has become corrupt and inefficient, and that a total revamp of SolGov rule is necessary.
4.) The System Freedom Party argues for a radical devolution of authority from Unity Station to the systems, as well as official reform into a confederation, believing systems know best how to advance their own interest.

Citizenship and Immigration

1.) The Human Unity Party holds the position that every human still holds Solarian citizenship, and that all are welcome to immigrate to Solarian space with few exceptions.
2.) The Sol First Party argues for strict immigration controls in order to avoid lowering the cost of labor further, in order to focus on the citizens already present in the Sol Alliance.
3.) The Reform Party says the bureaucracy surrounding immigration has crippled the system with inefficiency, and that it should be rebuilt from the ground up to efficiently find the best candidates for citizenship.
4.) The System Freedom Party advocates for devolving citizenship to individual systems, with this citizenship being mutually respected, thus leaving immigration and enforcement to the individual governments.

Megacorporations

1.) The Human Unity Party policy is that megacorporations, while a natural evolution of big business in the galactic age, must be regulated to prevent exploitation of citizens.
2.) The Sol First Party, similar to the Human Unity Party, wants megacorporations to be regulated and taxed, while ensuring business is not unreasonably impeded.
3.) The Reform Party sees megacorporations as a corrupting influence on the Alliance, and that they should be broken up wherever possible.
4.) The System Freedom Party position is that regulation of megacorporation should be left to the individual systems they operate in.
