In spite of being outperformed in terms of production by both New Gibson and Biesel, Valkyrie has managed to cement itself as a major player within the Republican economy. Its strategic location within its star system has enabled the planet to become a hub for trade, commerce and even tourism via extensive upgrades to its infrastructure. Valkyrie was originally a mining outpost that expanded rapidly after it was colonized shortly after Biesel in the 2150s. As a result of its proximity to Biesel, as well as its abundant raw resources, it has become popular among the megacorporations that have established outposts across the moon's surface. The Commonwealth of Valkyrie is treated as an independent state within the Republic of Biesel and receives planetary recognition.
