At NanoTrasen, we look to hire the best and brightest in a wide range of fields. Given the vast breadth of known inhabited space and the variety of university, doctorate programs and general experiences potential employees can be subject to, NT HR has come up with these explicit requirements applicants much meet before being hired.
The following requirements and recommendation are applicable to new hires and current employees applying for a job outside of their department only. For information on in-department paygrade increases and promotions for current employees of NanoTrasen please see NanoTrasen Corporate Finances.
Unless otherwise stated, conditions listed are requirements.
Standard Requirements
All potential employees must be able to meet all of the following criteria to be considered for employment by NanoTrasen:
- Must be a citizen or possess a work visa from all applicable governments
- Must be at least 18 years old (17 years for interns/apprentices)
- Must be of sound-mind
- Those with psychological disorders are subject to additional levels of psychological screening
- Must speak Tau-Ceti Common/Basic unaided by translation devices or software
- Must have no outstanding warrants or bounties
Standard Procedure
All potential employees are subject to the following pre-employment procedures, regardless of species, race, age, nationality and socioeconomic status.
The following are done in the order listed:
- Two-tier background check
- Employment and Educational History
- Criminal Record
- Routine Level-1 Psychological Evaluation
- Interview(s) with HR and department head(s)
- Sign binding non-disclosure agreement
Occupation Specific Requirements
Certain positions warrant additional requirements and/or screening procedures to ensure only the most skilled and professional people are hired. Their requirements and recommendations are listed below, divided into Tiers.
Tier 2i-m
Medical Intern
- Medical Degree or Medical Degree in Progress preferred
Tier 3h
Cafeteria Chef
Hydroponics Botanist
- Bachelors Degree in applicable field
or
- Pass (75%+) Culinary or Horticulture Aptitude test
Tier 4s
Security Officer, Level 1
- Complete NanoTrasen Security Force Bootcamp
or
- Complete year long NT Security cadet-ship
or
- 2+ years experience in security-related position(s)
Tier 5s
Security Officer, Level 2
- 10+ years experience in security-related position(s)
Tier 5c
Cargo Quartermaster
- At least 22 years of age
- 2 years experience in supply-management related fields
- Completion of NanoTrasen Introduction to Management Course
Tier 5m
Emergency Medical Technician, EMT
Nursing Assistant
- At least 22 years of age
- Certification from accredited Medical School
- 1 year medical-related experience (academic experience ok)
- Recommended Medical Degree or 2 years experience as EMT or Nurse in previous occupation(s)
Tier 6s

Forensics Technician
- At least 25 years of age
and
- Applicable criminal forensics degree
or
- 7 years experience in related fields
- For Warden: Prisoner Management
- For Others: Criminal Forensics/Investigation
Tier 6e
Engineer, Level 1
- Includes: Maintenance and Engine Technicians
Atmospherics Technician, Level 1
- At least 27 years of age
- Completion of NanoTrasen Engineering or Atmospherics Aptitude Test
- Applicable Bachelors Degree
or
- 7 years experience in Related Fields
Tier 7m
General Medical Personnel
- Includes: Medical Doctor (MD), Surgeon, Pharmacist, Chemist
- At least 28 years of age
- Applicable degree from accredited school
- For Medical Doctor, Surgeon: Doctorate of Medicine (MD)
- For Pharmacist, Chemist: Doctorate of Pharmaceuticals (DPh)
- 2 year Residency at accredited hospital or clinic
- Experience as NanoTrasen Nurse or EMT preferred
Tier 7r
Research Personnel, Level 1
- Includes departments: R&D, Robotics, Plasma Research
- At least 28 years of age
- Applicable degree from accredited school
- For R&D, Plasma Researcher: PhD
- For Robotics: Engineering or Mechatronics or Robotics degree (Masters preferred)

- At least 30 years of age
- PhD from accredited university in applicable field
- Preferred at least 5 years experience in related field
