- IPC are vulnerable to burst damage. Taking a large amount of internals damage in a short time will cause wrose effects depending on the amount, from stunning them to even flooring the.
- IPCs are vulnerable to EMPs, which cause direct organ damage (though does not instantly drain them of battery)
- They must constantly manage their internal thermometer, balancing how much power is needed to stay cool.
- While they don't need oxygen, they often need additional suit cooling units to work EVA.
- Their synthetic nature has a few other advantages - they feel no pain, are immune to all non-damaging chemicals (and so they aren't affected by sleep toxin; but are affected by sulphuric acid), and basic damage is quite easy to repair; requiring a welder to patch brute damage or wire for burn damage only.
- IPCs can charge from cyborg rechargers, or APCs with a (very very very low) chance of being shocked.
- They can also charge off light and food, depending on their chosen reactor.
Are these still true?
- They are more resistant to brute damage than their organic counterparts.
- They are incredibly vulnerable to laser/burn weaponry.
THE BELOW SECTION IS FOR GUIDE TO ROBOTICS
IPCs
Sometimes, you will need to repair synthetics other than Cyborgs, such as IPCs. The procedures for repairing an IPC are quite different from that of cyborgs, and are as follows:
Opening and Closing Surgical Sites
The first and last steps of most repairs.
General repair
In the case that any damage is only external (Anything less than "Severe" or "A lot of") and brute in nature, damage can be repaired without opening the part up.
For dents:
Equip a welding helmet on your head.
Place a welder in your hand, click on it while it's in your hand to light it, target the affected organ and then click on the IPC.
For burns:
- Burns, no matter how high or low the damage is, will require that you open the robotic part up. Read up here to find out how to do that.
Advanced interior repair
All IPC organs have three different damage bars:
- Plating is the external protection of organcs. They prevent damage from the outside and soak up damage.
- Electronics and Wiring will recieve damage once the plating is gone. As they get damaged, organ function degrades and potentially even ceases.
IPCs possess their own set of internal organs, the locations and identities of which are as follows (Organs with their name in bold are vital - removing it will kill the IPC!):
- Positronic brain - Head. When damaged enough, the IPC will completely cease function, never to return. It slowly heals over time, but cannot be repaired manually. When it heals, it will suffer fragmentation, akin to organ scarring which will cause roleplay scenarios. Fragmentation is not repairable in round. (NOTE: Removing this will only kill the IPC chassis, not the posibrain itself. The brain will function like a normal posibrain however you will be unable to re-activate the frame which the positronic was removed from!.)
- Microbattery - Chest. Regulated power in an IPC. This means it is essential, if it gets damaged bad things happen.
- Cooling Unit - Keep you cool and prevents you melting.
- Reactor - Generates and stores the power which keeps the IPC functional. comes in three flavours:
- Electric: The classic generator. Charges off external source quickly.
- Bio-reactor: Eat food to charge. Can charge from external sources slowly.
- Solar: Generate power in light. Can charge from external sources slowly.
- Access Port - Contains you access cable, which allows you to connect to things, and is also a port which allows things to be slot in (such as overloaders). If damaged, the cable may be effected and the slot blocked off.
- Hydraulics - Groin. Allows the IPC to move it's legs. When damage, will cause leg malfunctions and even higher power usage on movement. Complete destruction stops legs working at all.
- Arm Actuators - Arm (one per arm). Allows the arms to move. Damage will cause malfunctions, while destruction will completely stop the arm working.
- Voice Synthesizer - Creates the voice of the IPC, allowing it to talk. Damage will garble the speech, destruction will prevent any talking at all.
- Optical sensor - Head. Allows the IPC to see.
- IPC Identification Tag - Head. Provides a unique ID string and records ownership infomation. This is technically an optional organ, however any IPC without it is breaking Corporate Regulations
Special Organs
Some organs are only available to specific frames:
- Wireless Access Point (Bishop Only) - Allows remote connection to machines like an AI and features an internal PDA.
- Internal Storage (G1 Only) - Functions as an internal satchel.
Replacement organs are available in the robotic fabricator. Some non-binary damage states (like cooling unit melting) will need total organ replacement until the relevant surgery is implemented.
You have a special chair to help with internal repairs in your workshop, with an access cable for IPC diagnostics.
Organ repair
Organ removal
While targeting the organ's parent limb:
Organ attachment
Positronic brain installation
Voice mending surgery
IPC revival
Time to bring a dead robot back to life: While targeting the head:
Open the head's hatch using a screwdriver.
Pry open the hatch using a crowbar.
Decouple the Positronic brain.
Remove the brain with the hemostat.
Create a full cyborg chassis.
- The IPC's species depends on the brand of the torso. Different brands can be ordered through cargo.
Use the multitool on the head to disable the law manager.- Build a cyborg and follow the steps above.
