It is named for the higher density of stars in the region, forming a brighter “scar” when observed from a distance, especially in contrast to the darker Lemurian Sea behind it when viewed from the Spur’s more southward populated planets.

			Its location and the higher density of stars makes it a prime candidate for colonisation efforts for the [[Tajara]] and [[Unathi]] people – both close to [[Adhomai]] and [[Moghes]] and more likely to harbour those rarer, perfect planets for colonisation.

			Some early exploration was undertaken during the Solarian hegemonic era, though never extensive and the start of the interstellar war saw these projects cancelled, like many other Solarian frontier missions. Modern exploration of the sector began in earnest in the past thirty years, with plenty of exploration ships comb Orion’s Scar seeking a new potential home.

			Several smaller “stepping stone” colonies and stations already established in the sector close to the Spur’s nations, though the intrepid explorers who have ventured further from civilisation have yet to find anything of note.
