As every government continues to run a deficit fighting against the phoron scarcity, this position only becomes more influential, as Idris keeps constantly buying government bonds. The nationstate that found itself in the worst situation because of this was the Alliance - already a deeply indebted nation (a ton of that previous debt is also held by Idris) the past five years has seen the Alliance run only larger and larger deficits, allowing for Idris to become a larger and larger holder of their debt - to the extent where now, Idris owns a majority of the Alliance’s debt. The Nralakk Federation and Empire of Dominia, both allies of the alliance, have recently started to also grab up more and more alliance debt, in what seems to be an effort to limit the potential damage Idris can do by selling even some of the alliance’s debt off. However both those nations are also running massive deficits, and need to use debt bought by Idris to purchase Alliance debt, which grants Idris an influential position within their economies. In the midsts of the scarcity, that has stopped being the case - though the terms for corporate loans are still ironically more lenient than those they offer individuals, Idris now demands collateral or similar before approving loans, worried the growth will stop sooner rather than later, much to the frustration of their peers at times. They are the megacorporation with arguably the most soft power within the Orion Spur - managing a majority of the spur’s wealth - a position that has allowed them to stand up to NanoTrasen to an extent most other corporations aren’t capable of, sometimes even disobeying Miranda Trasen in small ways. It’s never a huge amount, for no matter their soft power, as long as NanoTrasen holds a monopoly over phoron, they’ll have the economic power to break every other megacorporation if they so wished - but it’s enough for Idris to look after itself while not inviting the full wrath of Miranda down.

			Idris’s greatest influence in fact, might be over other nationstates. For the past five years every nationstate of the spur has been [[Spurian economics page \| running a massive deficit]], as they attempt to fight against the economic effects of the scarcity. Idris, having access to the largest amount of liquid capital in the entire spur, found itself in a unique position where it could use that massive fortune to buy the debt of these nationstates (bonds) and become a majority holder of that debt for multiple different nations. This grants them a position which normally sees issues raised by any central government dropped just as quickly, because should Idris even dump a small amount of their held debt - the cost of borrowing for those governments would skyrocket, necessitating them to cut back on the deficit spending that is the only thing keeping the worst of the scarcity at bay. As every government continues to run a deficit fighting against the phoron scarcity, this position only becomes more influential, as Idris keeps constantly buying government bonds. The nationstate that found itself in the worst situation because of this was the [[Solarian Alliance]] - already a deeply indebted nation (a ton of that previous debt is also held by Idris) the past five years has seen the Alliance run only larger and larger deficits, allowing for Idris to become a larger and larger holder of their debt - to the extent where now, Idris owns a majority of the Alliance’s debt. The [[Nralakk Federation]] and [[Empire of Dominia]], both allies of the alliance, have recently started to also grab up more and more alliance debt, in what seems to be an effort to limit the potential damage Idris can do by selling even some of the alliance’s debt off. However both those nations are also running massive deficits, and need to use debt bought by Idris to purchase Alliance debt, which grants Idris an influential position within their economies.
