			Each gene and trait has a unique descriptor that appears in the plant analyzer report. These can be used to keep track of which plant has which gene, also something vitally useful for proper splicing.

			One variable which is not detailed within genes is chemicals produced. Each product of a plant has chemicals in it, whether it's just nutriment or advanced medicine that takes numerous resources to produce. This is, in many ways, where xenobotany can become powerful as a resource. However, these chemicals cannot be discovered from a growing plant, only the products of its harvest.

			Splicing is a tale of trial by fire. The centrifuge will never list which gene you are splicing, only the ID numbers of each gene, which is unique to each gene in each plant. Having plenty of seeds and data disks is a must in order to discover which ID is associated with which gene. While splicing won't generate new gene types in a plant itself like mutation can, it is incredibly powerful in making tailor-made plants.

	Add a mutagen to a plant's hydroponics tray or soil and watch its genes change randomly. Some plants have the potential to change subspecies, as well. 			This is your primary method of discovering new genes with the stock you have at the start of the shift. You could go the entire shift without once using gene splicing simply by mutating a plant, collecting seeds from it, then planting and mutating those seeds again. By doing this repeatedly, and selectively growing plants with certain preferred mutations, you could slowly but surely produce any wild plant of your dreams.
